I am returning after a long time away (since wrath) and have made a new lock… when i last played my imp would make some kind of snarky remark when every i ordered it to attack. it seems that this has been removed from the newest version of the game. Does anybody know the reason and is it possible to restore that speech?

I think you’re thinking of the “improved” demons introduced in MoP. I get mine glyphed to look like the improved invader zim voiced imp but the talking when ordered to attack is a lot rarer than it once was

The pet versions of some demons do the talking now when summoned.
Voidwiggler and Sister of Temptation.
And as demonology warlock, the more intelligent random demons will also have a line when they appear.
There are 3 lines i clearly remember the imp saying when starting combat… 1. This is not in my contract, 2. Cant we all just get along, and 3. Oh sure send the little guy.

Actually I was surprised as you when I came back after cata to legion, at the very very subtle changes made to the game.
Like the removal of the imp lines, spell abilities becoming more and more quiet (take hammer of the righteous for example), the fact that you can’t really hear other people’s abilities as loudly as when it was before.
Obviously not game breaking things, but really more of an attempt to make WoW more streamlined and bland… or maybe simply to improve the performance of the game? I don’t know.
This would require an addon that tries to change sound files, which is a thing that Blizzard disallowed players to do because

this is for things like addons which changed the sound of your rifle in the game to the old sound.
