Singe magic doesn’t seem to remove ANY negative magic effect from my warlock.
I’ve just tested this and the imp automatically casts singe magic as soon as a magic debuff is applied to my lock, however the debuff is NOT removed and the spell goes on cooldown.
Also, since there’s no longer 2 versions of the singe magic spell and now it’s just the one “command demon” version (i.e. there used to be one in the pet spell book and one under “command demon” in the main spell book) it seems that you can’t actually take it off auto cast anymore with the “command demon” version (right clicking it does NOT toggle off auto-cast, it simply casts the spell).
Has anyone else noticed this? It’s a serious issue that this is not working properly at all. I’m surprised it doesn’t already have a thread in this forum.
You actually can cancel the auto-cast of singe magic by right clicking it on the pet bar. And you should really because it’s bugged since I don’t know when and it only works properly if you have it on manual.
That being said instances where it is very useful and it works provided the imp is within range: On Opulence in BOD you can remove from yourself that debuff where you lose hp when moving. You can dispell Rezan’s fear in Atal’Dazar, same for the debuff on last boss of Siege of Boralus, in Tol Dagor the debuff that the barrel lady casts on a random party member etc…
Singe Magic isn’t available on the pet bar anymore?
As I mentioned in my OP, it doesn’t appear in the pet spell book anymore for the imp. You can’t actually put the spell on the pet bar anymore since it’s only available under the “command demon” ability in the regular spell book when you have the imp summoned.
Until somewhat recently, there used to be TWO versions of the Singe Magic spell. One appeared in the pet spell book, and like you’ve suggested, you could put it on your pet spell bar and right-click to toggle off/on auto-cast.
However, as Blizzard decided to restrict singe magic to the “command demon” spell only, this is no longer an option. So we’re stuck with the buggy auto-cast POS.
I just logged in to check the proper procedure so here it is:
If you open your spellbook while having the imp summoned and go to the pet tab, you can find singe magic which you can toggle on/off for autocasting by right clicking. You can also place it on your imp’s spell bar if it’s not already there but that’s not necessary. So you set that to off. Then you go to the spellbook tab and place the command demon ability on your spell bar.
Now singe magic autocast is off and you can cast it manually from your spell bar.
make sure hes in line of sight and in range to use the ability. When on the last boss of SoB the imp will attempt to cast it on you but if hes not in range he will give up and felbolt spam.
I initially suspected this might be the case, but assumed that because it appeared as a “command demon” ability for my imp that it was usable at 39…
I mean why does it appear there at my level at all if it’s not meant to be available until level 68? And also my imp casts the spell, it just doesn’t do anything.
Naturally I figured it was a bug…
Thanks for your replies anyway. I hope Blizzard removes it from the “command demon” abilities for lower levels and puts a clearly marked level restricted version like the other spells to prevent any confusion for others.
I swear I was not able to remove the hex on Oppulence with a singe magic simple macro I made. I tested it before the fight and the imp did cast on me when I pressed the key (I had autocast turned off) but during the fight when I had the hex it didn’t do anything. Maybe the imp was out of range but if so, wth was he doing…you have to all be in the same room each leg of the fight.
singe magic macro? are you macroing singe magic or command demon? Now that command demon exists, I don’t use a macro for that. I do need a macro for the other abilities though, like whiplash and devour magic.
I was trying to make sure the imp’s target for singe magic was me, but perhaps that is the only target it can have. I was using /cast [target=Prynn] blah blah
I’ve had issues with focus/mouseover macros and command demon. The only way I can get Seduce or Singe Magic to work with mouseover or focus macros is to use the actual demon ability, NOT Command Demon.
So, apart from the issue of being low level, be very careful with you how want to use Command Demon.
