I’m not sure if this is a bug or not
While raiding in Castle Nathria, in the Huntsman fight I set a shade of Barghast to focus, never attack it, not using CC the focus is just to keep an eye on the stacks, but twice out of 4 pulls in heroic my imp randomly sent a firebolt on it and don’t understand why. has anyone else had this or know how I can stop this from happening
Check if you have any macro to atack focus. I recomend set macros to everything you want from your pet.
Macros like:
/petassist
/petattack
Should work, you can add this strings to another spell so they will attack the same target as you. Like incinerate or something.
Pet’s AI it’s extremely bugged, you need to set a ton of macros to make it work properly .
tyvm I Hadn’t used macros as much before but I see I will need to… Don’t want to wipe the raid because my imp is stupid…
The problem, maybe, is whe you are clicking to set focus you maybe target the mob and your pet use his “auto attack”. So i recomend you setting 2 macros, one to set your pet on passive and other to set your pet to assistattack with you.
Passive:
/petassist
/petpassive
Attack:
/petassist
/petattack
I used keybind this macros with “alt+mouse wheel up” “alt + mouse wheel down” its really helpfull. Good luck.
My guess is that you have the pet on Assist instead of Defense or Passive. So you’re swapping targets and the Imp is assisting you, also swapping targets. Either use some macros like above, or keep it on Passive and manually have it attack. Or a mix of both, Passive + macro’d /petattack commands on your rotational spells.

Ty both very much, this was not something I even considered could be happening I’ll start using macros to keep this from happening
Tbh I’d strongly advise the latter. Passive on pet and macro attack and passive to an easy easy buttons. It takes a bit more per management to ensure you have your pet on target all the time especially in aoe but you are in control a lot more. Besides it’s the pet spec of pet class, managing the pet is sorta part and parcel.

Wow nice discussion! I was wonder this as well.
Also, how do I get my 12+imps I summon in Demo to switch targets?
you don’t. the ai is bugger all. they sort of vaguely switch after their current target is dead. otherwise the closest thing you got is Implosion which sort of works in that it will in fact redirect all the dps remaining in those imps into a new target. but it also blows them up so you have to start genning imps again and if you only hit one target it’s dps neutral-ish. not a lot of instances in which implosion swapping is your best move but it exists as a tactic.
