Completing World Quest with full sound on. Perhaps, gathering herbs or secondary quests is something which helps you to feel the world around.
Some people simply prefer to walk from one settlement to another.
How do you immerse in WoW?

Playing classic as current retail wow is so far removed from what WoW once was itâs sad.
Retail: Write and act upon my character lore. My friend does the same. When weâre farming for something we make a story out of it to distract from the grind. It helps we have the same type of crazy.
E.G: My name is Elk. She made a character named Doe: https://worldofwarcraft.blizzard.com/en-us/character/us/anvilmar/doe/
Classic:
Have you done a 3 day session in HC? Honestly after a few weeks it feels like it has taken you into Azeroth herself. I dreamt of being chased by Kurzen Witch doctor, of a skull icon Tauren chasing my sorry human butt in Desolace, of the race track in Shimmering Flats.
Take meee hoommeee
I just fly around. Not exactly exciting but I get immersed rather quickly due to Skyriding. It would be next level with a true first-person mode. In most games I play that allow me to pilot or ride around with something, I will always choose first-person mode. Would be kinda neat to have something like that here. It would probably be hell to develop though.
I tunnel vision from point A to point B and kill monster for reasons I donât know but it gets the quest completed
I plant flowers on rock sheep. Or rams. Maybe I water the sheep and plant flowers on the rams? I get those confused. I donât milk the bulls because then they follow you around for 30 minutes.
By ignoring parts of the writing thatâs bad - sadly itâs most of WoWâs writing these days.
âThese daysâ = last 20 years
Yeah. WoWâs writing has never been top tier but it has at least been entertaining at points. At the bare minimum, I just want to be entertained. WoWâs story is best enjoyed if you donât think too much about it, which can be hard sometimes if youâre a lore nut like I am.
I grabbed a few addons to make reading quests easier and the quest interface more friendly.
I also set a keybind for the interact button. Instead of using the mouse all i need to do is press my keybind to interact with quests objects, gathering nodes or when fishing. Makes the game flow much better.
Level alts, taking them on their new adventures, putting myself in their mindset. Lots of skyriding, zipping up and down and all around, not just a boring straight line to where I want to go.
Lots of my hunters have themes for their taming, other classes focus on mogs and mounts to fit their own theme.
Sit in chairs, walk around buildings, interact with things that have no use except that you can interact with them, like petting random pets.
Sitting and enjoying the music in the zones I like, Hallowfall is a new favorite.
Lots of other things Iâm sure, but I donât just play to log in and do a raid or dungeon or whatever and log out with a character, I put myself in the mindset of the character, almost like RP in my head. /shrug
Absolutely. Over all, itâs typically bad. But there will be the occasional side quest or snippet thatâs well done.
Like dragon flight. Overall. Meh. But I did really enjoy the blue flight part of it.
I would always play with in-game music enabled. However, with the release of this current patch, I have disabled in-game music. Took some time to adjust, but now I feel even more immersed in WoW because my attention is focused more on the actual world around me.
Ground mount through the old parts of Azeroth.
Could be nostalgia but they seem different, I canât put my finger on it. More alive in some ways despite how clearly dated the zones have become compared to modern ones.
Because it was that good eh
Nods
There is something mildly nostalgic about that. Nostalgia hits me hard if I have to ride through Silvermoon and Eversong. Thatâs where I started with World of Warcraft so those two areas will always have a special place in my heart.
Thereâs a lot of really great ambient noise that I feel gets obscured by the music, so I turn it off. Even in Undermine, sometimes. It just feels hyper immersive to listen to the sounds around you, some of them ominous.
In The Wormlands in Azj-Kahet, the hole in the ceiling has some real ominousâŠchanting? It doesnât sound natural, whatever it is.
Iâm a big fan of Souls games and even though the majority of the games lack any music, itâs very atmospheric just hearing the sounds around you and really helps getting you into the world.
Other things too, like just walking or sticking to the ground, or just casually walking from place to place. Get to enjoy stuff a lot more if you just take a bit of time.
having tried new world on ps5, its the go to game when i want to find immersion
but i like wow gameplay so, i still try to immerse (some fun factor)
play classic hardcore. the classic world itself is huge and immersive
play retail with a roster of mains that never leave khaz algar because its supposed to be on expedition to investigate this small island. upkeeping outside khaz algar can be done with army of alts thanks to warband system
I find my own âimmersionââŠwhatever that is. Changes by the day. Sometimes riding a ground mount for a bit. Mogging is âimmersiveâ for me. Hunting new sets and pieces.
This game is really good because it allows a lot of freedom of choiceâŠof playstyleâŠof âimmersionâ options.
Music off, ambient up, headphones on. Iâll also walk/run/ground a good bit. Inky black can be fun at night. Tavern hopping with my peeps (underwater taverns ftw). Flying around taking screen shots. Stumbling upon and interacting with the easter eggs that exist just cause. Finding a nice place to fish.
So many things when you step away from the funnel.
