Imagine if cosmetics worked like Deviate Delight?

The Savory Deviate Delight transmogrified you into a Ninja or a Pirate. People loved them and used them all the time.

So what if Bliz did not have transmog, but instead sold cheap ($.50 cent) cosmetic consumables that had similar effects, such as:

  • Appearance of the opposite gender
  • Appearance of a swimsuit
  • Appearance of a tuxedo
  • Appearance of a wedding dress

And so on - what are your thoughts on this?

You wanted to post this in General Discussion, this is classic discussion.

She wants this in classic as transmog isn’t a thing, no?

Not interested in being nickled and dimed for cosmetic temporary buffs in a game where i pay a monthly fee for the service.

I dont know why you would be either.

They do. I simply stated to take it elsewhere, maybe the retail crowd would like it. My personal opinion is I’d rather not have micro-transactions nor do i want changes such as they proposed.

Classic with warts n’ all.

People would complain about how Blizzard have sold out or how it’s pay to win or would complain it’s too expensive or Nochanges.

Frankly I personally wouldn’t mind but it’s the start of a dangerous slippery slope.

Once they add a cash shop, they’ll never take it out. Once the cash shop is there, they’ll keep adding stuff to it.

There’s no good reason for a subscription game to have a cash shop, ever…

Why would I do that when I can easily obtain those items?

From a player’s perspective, that’s a very valid point. From a corporate perspective, well… it depends.

For example, I played FFXIV and they are sub based but also have a cash shop and they are making bank selling cosmetics and mounts. Most of the cosmetics aren’t even account-wide - so whales buy these for all their alts. Anyway, the publisher of FFXIV is looking at that as a “good reason”. And the playerbase now couldn’t care less, even though four years ago they were just like this one, clamoring that they wouldn’t stand for more cash shop stuff

Yeah, I agree. Death by a thousand cuts and all that.

You can already do these things. If you really want to go into battle wearing such clothing, then you go in ACTUALLY wearing them. Not disguised plate mail.

Actually seeing people in the loot they’ve collected is cool, and I wouldn’t want cash shop items to diminish Savory Deviate Delight, Noggenfogger Elixirs or Orb of Deception.

I’ve only played through the trial of FFXIV, which is quite robust for a trial.

Love the housing system, the visuals, and the classes are neat. The leveling experience feels similar to modern WoW, with lots of arrow pointing, minimap markers, and spawn zones marked. I hate that in WoW, but it works in FFXIV.

I can’t stand the GCD combat. It’s so slow and wonky. I was pretty hard core in FFXI, which in my opinion had a much better combat system. Miss my FFXI red mage…

I never noticed or saw the cash shop in FFXIV. It’s a very different game from wow though, particularly classic/vanilla.

I think the main issue with most people is that including this or that (changes) opens the door for people to cry for more. Next thing you know, it’s not Classic anymore. It’s retail minus.
