I haven’t paid more than 10g to respect. I think your doing it wrong.
Don’t respec then. If you want to tackle multiple avenues of the game, then you’re going to have to cough up some coin. Live with the consequences of your choices.

50g to go raid spec on speedclear nights. 75-100g on flask+elixir. This is fine atm since we arent pushing parses again till BWL.
50g to go back to aoe farm spec. 50g if i want to be in an actually good pvp spec for ranking which eventually means 50g to go back to aoe farm spec because you cant farm as well if you have frostbite or if i go arcane/fire for fun.
It adds up fast. Im down to 2000g man, i hate ZF 
lmao so in other words, people are spending as much as a shadowfangs worth on a daily basis just for respecs. RIP lol. That’s why i’m leveling a hunter for the sole purpose of making gold. I’ll do max level content later on, perhaps after tbc drops. To heck with all that noise.
I wish. I would be PvPing right now as arms instead of grinding dungeons as prot to pass time. Debating level 2nd warrior for just pvp antics.
Respecs will eventually go down to only 5g if you stop constantly respeccing.

You don’t need to respect all the time to raid or PvP. You choose to. Don’t like it don’t do it.
You’re a mage you can print money a respec is 1 hour worth of farming for you in an instanced zone lol.

Nobody cares that you are trying to play various aspects of the game at a “high level.” Suit yourself. All aspects of this game can be played for fun in any class and any spec. You choose to keep swapping things around - that’s on you.
imagine how much fun you would have in retail.
This is why people make alts that are dedicated to farming
Imagine how good you’d be if you stayed in the spec that is the most important to you and did everything in that spec.

What’s the gph like for ZF? 50g/hr?
So, if you’re spending 50g * 2 = 100g for respecs, plus say 100g for consumables/week, that’s like 4 hours/week of ZF, every week, just to cover costs.
That’s obviously not including any costs for pvp consumables, etc.
Is there anything else that’s as reliably consistent, and solo-able for mages as ZF?
I was looking at this Dire Maul East solo farming guide for Paladins, and starting to consider planning for gold farming at 60.
Why are you speed clearing? It costs too much and doesn’t accomplish anything.
I’ve managed to keep my respec costs down to around 20-25g. Because I don’t do it that often. Why are you respeccing so much? If you want to respec that much you gotta make more gold. It’s that simple. Gotta pay to play.
If you have to pay for respect, it’s not really respect.
