A 5% chance for the mounts I’ve never seen drop in Dragon Soul ever? I still would never see them. And it has been ten years.

That would be a good idea. It would also be good to have a bad luck protection mechanic, like in FF14.

For example:

  • In extreme trials (Single-boss instances), bosses drop totems that can be saved up and used to purchase mounts and gear outright if you have bad luck with the item drops. Each totem type is specific to a given trial, and can only be used to purchase loot from that trial.
  • In Eureka Anemos, killing bosses drops chests that contain various rewards, such as materia, high value vendor trash, furniture for your player house/apartment, and cosmetic gear. They can also contain a T-rex mount with a drop rate I estimate at around ~0.1% or so, which appears egregiously bad at first glance. However, the depending on the boss, you get 5-25 chests per kill, and a player who is active in Eureka can easily get thousands of chests in just a few days, thereby making farming the mount a far more reasonable prospect.
  • In the dungeon at the finale of the Stormblood leveling campaign, the Magitek Predator mount can drop, but the drop rate is very low. However, FF14 occasionally holds special events where you can earn Moogle Tomestones (currency) for completing various duties in the duty finder, and spend them on various rewards (changing each time the event is held). During one of those events, the Magitek Predator was one of the rewards available for purchase.

Then people will complain why after 20 runs it still hasn’t dropped because they think there’s a stacking mechanic.
