I'm very skeptical about launch now

Anyone else rethinking their launch plans? Like many here I was planning on taking the first week off from work, but now I’m wondering.

Launch is about 3 weeks away. Do we really think they’re going to meaningfully update hardware or software in that time? Blizzard confidently told us that the servers would be right back up.

I get this is a stress test. I’m not expecting to be able to play, and our characters are wiped anyway. My worry is for release. Taking the first week off only to have the servers down and offline for most of the time sounds particularly disheartening.

We already did that once 15 years ago.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, every launch has been rocky and had some sort of hiccup. If you are fine with that, then sure, take time off work. If you don’t want to use time off to stare at a “world server is down” or queue line, wait a couple days.

You guys remember when TBC was down completely for like 3 days after launch? It has certainly been getting better, but is far from perfect.

I never try to take launch day off. There used to always be issues.

Pretty much everyone I have ever read in the forums has predicted launch would have bumps. If that is a surprise and an issue for you, absolutely do not take off work. This is pretty much the norm for any launch.

Its coming out monday night/tuesday so i figured id let the first few days be rough and do what i can then just take fri and/or thu off. Then make it a 4 day long bonanza over the weekend.

Thats what I was thinking too. Take off Thursday and have a nice 4 day weekend, and by then the issues should be smoothed out.

Launch day is always like this lololol

I think I will wait at least two days before I start. No need to take days off work to look at world server down on login screen.

Nope because If I get in and out of the starting zone, I am in cruise control and having fun. They did this test to find issues and they just found some. This is a good thing. They might even schedule another test to see if the first issue is fixed. No need to be over concerned as you have no idea if you personally will be waiting in Que or not.

Not here, this is why the test is here, everything went well until they added a hotfix

I won’t play during launch day, the stress test is bad enough could you imagine during launch .

I don’t think that they expected this kind of response. They’re going to really need to fix things. I understand this is a stress test. All part of the process. I truly think lunch is going to be larger than what they expected.

Taking off launch week is always dumb, never worth it. The week after is best time.

It’s generally not a good idea to take time off of work for MMORPG releases. Servers are going to be stressed more than they will at any other point in the game’s life. We go through this every expansion release. If you want to take a week off to play classic, the second week is your best bet, the server should be stable by then.

I’m shocked that 15 years later people still think it’s a good idea to take days off on launch/patch day.

Now imagine the crying without layering.

My guess is that when it launches you’ll have more problems finding mobs that are not dead than logging in.

Let’s not forget that this is a stress test, and the whole idea is to overload the servers as a test. There will be adjustments made and more servers available at launch.

Don’t assume launch will go smoothly because it never does. You’re right that launch day at the very least will probably be a crashfest, and it’s possible the first 3-5 days will be unstable as well. It’s realistic and pragmatic to anticipate classic launch going just like every other expansion launch ever lol.

You might consider delaying your week off by at least 3 days, maybe skip the first week if you aren’t in a rush to server first 60 or something.

Launch day? I even planned every patch tuesday to not be able to play in vanilla.
