i would say, to everyone that joins a instanced pvp or wpvp, they should have their ilvl adjusted to 210. I want to pvp to get gear and pvp itself, but i always feels like a walking garbage till i farm lots of honor being useless in bgs beside some disables, cannot grab a flag because gear is crap and i’ll be one shotted, or guard or attack, i just have to leech until i can buy pvp costume, then lvl it to maximum and then start playing the game, and then i’m already tired and stop playing.

Getting gear for pvp has gotten progressively worse since Legion. For most, it’s not worth the painful time sink.

Sadly you can’t even fully start playing with honor gear
If you’re not having fun right now and don’t intend to farm some starter arena rating, i’d stop pvp now 
(To clarify, if you don’t find it fun feeling weak right now, it won’t get a lot better with 7/7 honor gear)

If it has vers on it yeah, but honor gear scales up. Baseline honor is 213 ilvl or so, so depends how much time they’re willing to invest in korthia
On my alts i don’t bother with upgrading honor above 2/7, but i have conquest to replace it which is hard to come by without arenas
It’s 200% better than fresh 60 for sure though

I’m not trying to be rude or troll but a good way to get honor and exp is to bg pre 60. Solves a bit of the PvP gearing issue. I know it’s not a huge solution but it’s something. Also if your willing to fail a lot, arenas is a good way to get some gear

I find it funny gear matters in wow pvp. In other mmorpgs that normalize gear, queue times are within 5 minutes for a match. Random bg kind of matches. So it’s not like the random pvp scene would just up and die. I feel like it would get better but that’s more wishful thinking.

Honestly the best way to gear an alt is farm conquest on your main and mail them conquest gear boxes.
Trying to gear up a new toon themselves is a very painful and slow process. Would not recommend.

Pvp is in an horrendous state atm. Gearing being the biggest problem.
You essentially have to play and avoid all max geared characters while trying to have fun and finding players with an ilvl similar to your own to fight against in bgs. That or stick with a big group and hope to god they don’t pick you off.
With how long que times are you have to play around a solid 50 hrs of just cat and mouse (your the mouse obviously) to just gear yourself enough to be a slightly better mouse.
It kills any fun in pvp and is the reason why boosting is so prevalent but sadly that could be by design. If pvp was equalized in a meaningful way like gw2 there wouldn’t be that much of a need for pvp boosting therefore affecting their bottom line which is money.
99% of the pvp community agrees something is wrong. The only people here that’ll argue with you are people that don’t pvp, cause you know Pve players love to tell people why there wrong.

True, I leveled my rogue from 50 to 60 via BGs and got enough honor to buy a full gear set and I was 213 in warmode or instanced PvP.
Still getting one-shot 
Can’t one-shot because I’m missing most conduits.

If you spent time pvp’ing while leveling you should be 13-15k honor when 60.
This will get you a full set and a few upgrades, starting you roughly 210-215 pvp ilvl.
I have done this with multiple different classes. Watch HP and pick fights wisely. You should be just fine.
Edit: Honor gear, or conq gear, you’ll still be 1 shot.

I pvp and while the system is definitely bad and needs some work it’s not as bad as the majority make it out to be. Part of that is learning to rotate defensives properly and to also work on positioning.
