A week ago my MS sat 60/60. Current week/weekend with random blasts of 160/1600-8000. I get we had a DDOS but dude. Seriously. Blizzard is a company owned by Microsoft. One of the biggest tech industries in the world. How is this not on lockdown or getting help from the government?
Current MS and reason for this complaint: 167/1648
PS: Its not my internet. Ping for other games is 32
EDIT: Full disconnection and can’t log into game now. Time Stamp: 1750 CST

We have also been having this issue. It is so frustrating. I was beginning to wonder if it was just us but everything elsewise is perfect.

This post explains it really well, and far more elegantly than I could. But you’ll also have to read the comments as well as they go into further detail:

Because dealing with DDoS attacks is a lot more difficult than folks online seem to think it is, or immensely expensive to the degree it isn’t feasible to do anything but use countermeasures like Cloudflare. Which, here’s the thing that makes this so annoying for people, but the lag we experience is actually part of the defense - this is to make sure the servers don’t shut down during a DDoS attack which can lead to corrupted files, destroyed servers, and large rollbacks on the entire server infrastructure being necessary.
Stuff like that would cost millions if not billions of dollars.
All whilst a DDoS attack can be initiated by someone from half-across the world in some basement far outside of Blizzard’s reach. So… yeah. That’s why “nothing” is happening because, Blizzard realistically can’t do more than what they are already doing.

Yes. Blizzard on their own wouldn’t be able to handle it and only can do so much but if its become a long term issue at this point Microsoft should be saying look, we are losing money. Lets squash the issue. Locate it. Kill it and be done with it. They have the money. Millions is like only 10 dollars to them. Its a mcchicken meal.
Worst of all if Microsoft sees customers unhappy. They lose money. And what company in their right mind says: Its fine. We don’t want your money.

Just read the reddit post and the comments. None of what you said made any sense and the post covers enough to demonstrate what you are saying isn’t feasible.

I would take anything you find on reddit with a grain of salt.
The argument you are saying is Blizzard doesn’t have the resources. That is wrong. Blizzard is now a subsidiary of Microsoft. Lets say Blizzard is son and Microsoft is Father. If the son can’t fight the fight. Now call forth Father for help who has way more resources to put into the problem at hand.
You are telling me thats not feasible? (If not why)
Why would the government get involved? WoW is not a life necessity. The probably care very little about its survival.

Well, by all means, go contact the people doing the DDoS-ing and ask them to stop because Blizzard can only do so much. Microsoft can’t help; neither can the government (why would they?).
It will stop when the people doing the DDoS-ing have either achieved their objective or get bored and stop on their own. We saw this before with Lizard Squad, who didn’t stop until some of their members were arrested. Maybe that’s what it will take here as well, who knows.
Yeah the government better step up and make sure we can play at every moment. What a joke. Y’all need to touch some grass. Get laid or something. Jesus you’ll admit they are getting ddos attacks from the outside yet it’s their fault still. Blame the right people.

Microsoft, Google, Sony have all been victim to ddos attacks with a worse outcome than we are getting in WoW
Things being laggy for an hour is probably the sign of ddos mitigation.

Oooookaaayyyyyyyyyyyyy…
You do realise that Ddos’s were happening ages before the MS purchase or have you been hiding under a rock? Besides the fact that you didn’t pay attention, MS just owns the name, everything in their words is to leave Blizzard to do it’s thing.
Also, is this a national disasters? A national crisis?? No it’s not.
It’s server issues for something the government as you asked, won’t touch, I mena what is the government going to do, add more tariffs… I mean seriously.
