I'm tired of running BWL with my guild

We still run BWL and are required to run on our mains. I play a hunter and got 8/8 and the crossbow months ago. We still have mains that need a few pieces, but the issue is new recruits who are undergeared and need to run it. We lose and add guildies so it is a never-ending cycle of people needing gear. I don’t mind helping out and I know you don’t stop raiding when you get the gear you need, but I am bored and want to run on my alts who have decent gear. I’m not able to bring alts because “I’m needed for tranq rotation due to the low hit of the other hunters.” Or, “we want to make this fast so only mains.” Any solution to my dilemma?

Recruit some hunters sounds like.

We have a total of 5 including myself who raid, with 3/5 with good gear.

Well either tell them you’re bringing an alt or not coming at all, find a better guild if they don’t like it. BWL is easy enough they can pug some people if they need to. It’s pretty unreasonable to expect someone to bring their main to a gearing run if it’s not needed and they have a decent alt to bring.

Are they letting other alts run? If they are, bring it up, and if it doesn’t change find new guild. If they aren’t then at least they are consistent and you need to decide whether you want to stay with the guild or not.

Or if you really like the guild, just do what I did and put all the characters you want to raid with in different guilds.

I understand why a lot of people don’t like running a raid when they no longer need gear.

I just don’t understand how you can casually forget about the 39 other people who helped you along the way.

I still go to Mc every week cause some guildies need osg and bindings

Shouldn’t need more than 3 a week. I agree they should let your bring something from your bench. We’re currently 6 prestors short so we’ll be running a while and we’re gearing alts to fill as needed without needing to over recruit. If they “need” you it’s worth considering bailing imo.

But he is willing to help, he just wants to do so on an alt.

Find a guild that isn’t rife with authoritarianism, and/or join a server that has a lot of PUG raids going on during the week (which I’ve found to be more fun/relaxed than guild raids a good portion of the time).

You wouldn’t have that gear without the help of the other 39 people, a few of which still need their BiS pieces, suck it up and help out so everyone can get it over with as fast as possible. Run your alts in other guilds on off nights or pug it with GDKP.

It’s not the same 39 that helped him, it’s including recruits. If gear is rotting which it likely is, why should it matter what’s brought if he’s still present and contributing? Burnout is real and our guild did a collective sigh of relief when we swapped to binding runs only. Bwl isn’t far behind and only that much more palatable with how fast it can be cleared.

If that’s the guild leader’s attitude… it’s not surprising they have high turn over.

Because no one likes running a raid with nothing in it for them, and if everyone starts bringing alts it just slows the night down. The goal is get it over with asap. It also depends on the guild, lots of factors can go into if the leaders want to let you bring your alt.
Is the guild even on all mains still taking over an hour in BWL? Hell no to alts…

And the flip side of this, if only a handful of main’s need anything out of BWL they should be the runs running SR/GDKP runs on their own time.

GDKP supports RMT and should be avoided at all costs. Its better to be naked than support RMT

I guess if people haven’t bothered doing anything with their alts or they’re bad at them I suppose but we have plenty of alts well geared enough to sub in to current and future content which will also help as we transition to tbc and class choices change. We like our players and what they’re on plays less of a role than having them present. BWL is a loot piñata and adding 5 minutes to an overall clear doesn’t really drag it out much compared to length of MC or AQ.

Play the game to enjoy the company of others

Why not just get your alts in another guild and run it with them as your main. They don’t share a raid lockout

Probably because they have specific raid times they can make which shockingly coincide with when their guild raids.

Early p1 we had a resto sham get full 8/8 in like 3 raids because he was the only one in the first raid that dropped all sham. Then the next few raids other sham sham got the pieces he already had gotten. He needed the chest to finish his 8/8 remember other sham had recieved all the other t1 gear that run, because he already had it.
There was a debate to give it to him or not. Talk about “well you better not just quit coming if we give this to you.” Which I always thought was a big WTF we didnt give it to him. He played filled a role we couldn’t find anyone else to fill and earned it.

He owed us nothing.
