A knight of one of the human kingdoms would want to be known by his house or demesne, not as a champion of some “alliance” full of diapergnomes, weirdos in wolf suits, and purple knife ears.
Blizzard will not longer call you champion, it that ok with you hero?

This just popped in my head. Add in the options menu a drop down box and you can pick from a small list of options what npcs shall refer to you as. Champion, hero, adventurer, mercenary, or class hall title. Everyone wins.
I prefer Champion to Hero.
I’m not hero, but I do try to protect the citizens of Azeroth, so Champion works best for me. And at least it’s polite. lol
They have to call us something in the voice category and many usernames are not actually pronounceable. 
It’s also definitely a step forward from Commander. I never actually officially enlisted in the Alliance military. I just do odd jobs for them. And the rest of my “work” is for the citizens.
As a champion of Azeroth, I got killed by a pack of lvl 120 deer in vale of eternal blossom. Sounds about right.

It was really weird when Elisande referred to me as champion after I killed her 
I’d like it if certain titles would make them use that instead, maybe just the titles attached to achievements or feats of strength (otherwise it would be WAAAAAY too much work to record audio for all of em) at least in the voiced dialogue parts.
i loved being called “archmage” by everyone in legion, just cuz we’re fighting tentacle monsters now doesn’t make me suddenly not an archmage anymore, CALL ME BY MY PROPER TITLE GODS DAMNIT!
