All we do in this game is roll the dice. No matter how much time and effort we put into it, it all comes down to chance. Tonight I may play for 6 straight hours and have nothing to show for it, and that’s normal and accepted by now. Well it sucks, and your game sucks because of it. That’s all. I just had to vent.
Yeah no that feeling. Spent about 20 hours over the last 5 days to farm the Direhorn mounts from MoP and nothing. Didn’t even do anything just farming them so gave up. May try again another time.
That’s literally every game.
You mean the mounts with a sub 10% (iirc its like 4%) chance of dropping? Those are kiddie numbers and you should keep trying. You can get them if you keep at it long enough
That’s what the vault is for. Consolation and things to definitely build toward. It’s chance.
Do people quit because of this? Probably. Would people quit if they were able to just get everything they wanted? Probably. You can’t win so you might as well stay the course
Wonder why all the best players all have BiS, must just be really really lucky.
How about you propose a method of loot distribution so good that Blizzard is forced to implement into the game?
You got this!
The RNG is flawed. I saw my 3rd drape of shame in the vault this week. The chances I should have seen 3 of these at this point is absurdly low, but there it is.
Maybe you should reconsider what you are doing if you are playing for 6 hours and you don’t get:
Vault
M+ gear
Raid gear
PvP gear
M+ score
etc.
Well… no.
You already know the answer to this : gear tokens.
Let us work towards a goal, like a normal game. It wouldn’t feel like we’re playing the slot machines in Vegas.
Working as intended
This is why there such a divide in the community.
Players who have already endured the RNG grind feel justified in squashing those who haven’t because they haven’t faced down the uncaring RNG.
I understand that a game like this must have some RNG built into it for longevity’s sake, but I also sympathize with the OP in that I get very frustrated when I try to farm something for weeks or months and feel like I’m getting nothing in return for my invested time and effort.
I mean, the drop in question (mount, pet, transmog, paint color, blueprint, recipe, etc.) is right there on my hard drive in the game installation folder, so I’m simply beating my head against the RNG wall to unlock in-game access to it. It’s times like that when I’m compelled to go do something else in WoW for a while or take a break from the game entirely.
As a mount collector always talking about this, I know the feel and that’s a cosmetic reward, now gear progression should have something and that was reflected with S4 tokens. Players would like to have agency over the gear even if that kills the “fantasy” around loot from a boss, I´ve checked other MMOs and there’s a RNG loot and a coin progress for the same loot like a bad luck mechanic on some of those games, so the player always do progress.
So the current dinar system?
I’ll be happy if they added the tokens on top of RNG loot drop.
Gearing only using tokens is 100% slower than our current system if we keep the current numbers. 30 tokens for a coin 10-11 tokens a week so roughly 1 piece per 3 weeks.
When your raid team gets geared you trade among eachother and get geared way faster.
same story since 2004. I wouldn’t say it’s gotten WAY better, but it’s certainly improved. Some expansion have been better than others. This season is exceptionally terrible for rings/necks, at least for WW monks. I need crit/vers but outside of 1/1000000 chance from grimrail or iron docks its hard to target specific pieces. I simply accept it.
It must be vault day.
Have you tried PvP? It has this super cool system where you can target what you want with no rng.
skill issue
In a way RNG is the only common thing between “elitists” & “casuals”, no matter how skilled you are you can’t beat RNG.
If anything its keeping the community together since you know…RNG effects everyone at all levels of skill.
the trick is never expect anything then you’ll never be disappointed
