I never realized how similar it was to WoW. I mean, the Light is in Wheel of Time. So the question is, who had the original Light? WoW, or WoT?

I mean, Eye of the World was published in 1990, and Warcraft 1 came out in 1994.

When I picture trollocs, I picture taunka. Rand reminds me of Rhonin. I dunno… it’s more of the vibe then actual things. I’m almost done with the first book.

If I remember correctly, the Light as the spiritual force that humans worshiped wasn’t actually fleshed out until WC3.

WC 1 is was simply Clerics and even had a reference to God in the manual somewhere.

WC 2 didn’t even mention it, I think, beyond the implication in Uther the Lightbringer’s name.
Edit And WC 2 churches originally had a Christian Cross above the steeple, which in WC 3 was changed to an Ankh to dissociate from known modern religions.

Certainly, but I can’t recall it ever being mentioned as a deity. There was a reference to god, but nothing about the Light or the Holy Light until Warcraft 3.

Wheel of Time is my favorite series of books.
Looking forward to seeing a tv/streaming series based on it.
I doubt it will be 1 for 1, and I doubt they will show some of the more gruesome/gritty things that happen in the books.
We shall see.

Edit: My ‘litmus test’ for how I feel about the show will be how they handle the Battle of Dumai’s Wells.
