but the three days early access is, by far and away, the most important aspect of that purchase.
many, many, many people would not have purchased the epic edition if it werent for the 3 days early access - the 3 days early access is too big of a competitive advantage for someone to not purchase it.
To whom? Only end-game, competitive players who are a minority. Within a month it wonât matter. I even wager within 2 weeks or even less it wonât matter either.
This I did not know! Cool! I may just do that for the first time ever!!
The biggest thing will be gold making / professions. Usually the first people to corner a market or find a good farming spot make enormous amounts of gold, especially with how df professions worked.
Players concerned with this have many months to voice their opinions through various channels (i.e. donât just stick to forums and lament your voice wasnât heard) to make sure devs learned from the mistakes of DF profession moguls and safeguard against it for TWW.
Not saying it wonât repeat in some form, because crafty people exist. But thereâs a chance to make this less of a problem than we saw in DF. Those concerned should strike while they still can.
The term âwhaleâ is used to describe players who are able, and somewhat willing to spend large amounts of money to be on the top of leader boards fast. Many games in the mobile market are pay to win games, where power is bought instantly, while being competitive.
Itâs mostly a mobile game thing, but since WoW also has things you can buy like gold and boosts, itâs in the same boat. With gold, you can buy carries, items, etc. Nothingâs off the table, really.
Anyone who spends to get ahead, in large amounts, is a whale.
The average player doesnât do anything more than the subscription fee to play. Thatâs whatâs called a âminnowâ.
A person that occasionally buys something, like a cosmetic from the store, is a âdolphinâ.
Itâs all a spectrum of spending habits, lol.
Blizzard is the âsharkâ.
They prefer whales, because they have a lot of meat (money) on them. They are seeking out whales, trying to get them to stay forever and spend lol.
Unless of course you are an adult who can decide to do whatever you want with your money.
If I know that I am 100% going to play something on the day it launches, why wouldnât I pre-order it and get some extras? They are getting the same money either way, I may as well get more for it.
The problem with this thinking is that zone design is much different now. Dragonflight was designed with verticality in mind and the zones are much bigger than in past xpacs, to cater to the capabilities of dragon riding. In WW, theyâre doubling down on these zone design principles, and using ground mounts as a substitute to dynamic flight (for whatever reasons, whether itâs disabilities, motion sickness, or you just hate dynamic flying or never got the hang of it) while leveling because âthatâs how traditional flying always wasâ makes a lot less sense.
