It won’t let me post in my transmog thread, saying I’m a new user. This is a new thing that has just popped up recently; never had this problem before on any character.

Quite possibly, the forum think you’re not subscribed. Active game time is required to post anywhere outside the Support forums.
If you believe you have active game time on the WoW license you’re posting from*, it’s possible the forum software got out of sync with the game’s actually accounts management software. When that happens, you can usually jar its memory by logging out of the forums and back (regrettably, sometimes several times).
*You can check this in your account management page in your battle.net account website.

No, that isn’t the problem it’s giving me. It’s saying something to the effect of “You’re a new user, so you can’t post in the same thread more than three times.”
Well, that’s new.
For some reason, you’re being treated as Trust Level 1, which is the “new forum” user TL.
By your posting and forum activity history, this doesn’t make sense.
Have you tried turning it off and on again logging out and back in again repeatedly? Perhaps it’s just a glitch.
I don’t know of any other reason to be reduced to TL1. Not even being dinged for a forum social infraction does that, AFAIK.

Its not a new problem. Been happening for nearly a year now to many people. The website logs you out then for some reason changes your account to new and with only one character to choose from. Sometimes it wont even let you choose a character.
I ended up just making some posts in some threads and it treated me as normal again.
I am having the same problems recently.
