I wouldn’t mind Denounce coming back with a mana cost and a short CD like CS while also lowering the cd of HS/Lod through crusaders might. Basically it’d be a ranged CS. Then, our mastery can turn into a nerfed version of glimmer, they can make it so it’s a bit more passive and not nearly as powerful so it’s just a bonus to pressing holy shock. This gives us an interesting mastery and a way to have a ranged style of healing.
However I like how we currently play. A few things feel bad like skipping IoL procs but overall I like the glimmer build. There’s a higher skill ceiling because of the Min/maxing and it’s faster than the previous build along with being proactive.
This is probably the closest we can get to having the melee healer playstyle without intruding too much into disc priest territory. We have to be in melee 100% of the time for glimmer and we use our main damage abilitiy to “boost” our healing abilities (reducing the cd). It really doesn’t get more “melee healer” than that honestly, having our dps abilities actually heal would be copying disc completely and it just doesn’t feel that good either tbh.
Scaling for mastery, GoL, is gonna be hell to balance, really just needs to be baked into holy shock, unless they are going to give us aoe abilities
wowanalyzer is a website that if u link combat logs to it you can actualy learn the value of devo ive had it do upto 10k drps(better than hps) on grong heroic 8.1.5

i was there it was glorious
Legion HPally was the most fun I’ve had on HPally since WotLK. Every expansion I’d level it, play it for like a few days and remember I didn’t like it anymore, and then logout. Then I tried it in legion and ended up mailing it for multiple raids. I loved that thing. It was so much fun. I was a tank healer with the ability to take a tank from 10% to 100% in one button (god I loved the massive holy shock crits when the artifact was active). It was amazing. Or having the legendary cloak, where Light of Dawn increased Martyr by 5% per target and made the healing transfer to beacons, and your shoulders that transferred 30% of what you received to beacons. God it was so much fun.
I want to play it again in BFA but I just remember what fun I used to have and then sigh and log off. I’m hoping the healing classes are better next expansion, cause that’s all I play and I’m losing fascination with several. I played monk as my primary healer for 6 years (except for when it became my secondary character while I played hpaladin in legion for two tiers). I don’t even like it anymore. I don’t like it in dungeons (don’t like SooM and miss the artifact heal). I hate the vivify changes. I was so skeptical for MW when the legion changes happened, cause I was so used to Uplift, but god I miss Legion. My guild has too many priests, so I don’t get to bring it to raid.
and same with shaman. So I’ve been playing my Druid. I’d much rather play paladin, but it just feels like a steaming pile of monkey poop compared to last expansion. If I don’t crit, it’s like why exist?

wouldn’t making Devo function as shields (giving same protection as they currently do) result in showing up on meters?
I agree with the OP. I started playing holy in cata, and while -yes- it was really overpowered back then, the play-style was perfect . we had a 20 sec timer on aoe (based on proximity. On a side note I want to say the mastery was in a perfect position, people just abused it too much before fights. 30% of max hp was a bit much… 5-10%, or just a max number based on spellpower would have been much better) , healing our tanks gave us holy power along with holy shock, and then we could choose to use that for aoe or single target… As time went on and we became even more overpowered (turning holy radiance into a non cd aoe) they figured out we were too good! “So what to do? oh… Nerfing holy radiance wasnt popular? let’s just take it out! What? holy power isnt good anymore? let’s just put that on a cooldown instead.” I actually switched to shaman in the middle of 8.1 because of this giant lack of group heals (other than ONE 12 sec cd that heals 5 people)
But I’m sure there are people who think the opposite, and that’s why switching classes was simply the way to go.
