I'm having a horrible time in RBGS (resto)

I have hit 1800 on my holy paladin and disc priest with little hassle. The amount of instant casts and different schools makes getting heals off easy.

Resto shamans however are a whole different beast. I can NOT get heals off for the life of me. I’m constantly getting interrupted. Riptide is the only reliable instant cast. I try chain heal/healing surge and get insta interrupted. I can’t juke constantly or else people will die…

Stand at the very very back, im talking 40 yards away, max distance, and press dispel, grounding, and chain heal (with the talents)

Riptide is a fair instant heal. Use it on cool down. Don’t forget to use Primordial Wave for an additional instant. Healing tide and stream and unleash life on cool down. When in a pinch use ascendance and spirit walkers grace with pvp talent and cast. When you can’t riptide use your disrupting totems, purge and hex healers. This will help you in big fights to get their healers behind and hopefully your DPS can land kills. Disc and Hpala are favored over Shamans currently in RBGs

no, i literally was correct. chain heal is your most important and best heal in RBGs. by a LARGE margin. by an incredibly large margin. like 70% of your total healing done type of margin.

especially with the PVP talent.

I think the reference wasn never cast chain heal/healing rain in Ascendance. At least that’s how I read it, I could be wrong.

I adjusted my response. Poster asked how to heal effectively and not get interrupted. I can understand their frustration as I try to shear chain heal myself.

rbgs as a resto seems entirely positioning based. rshamans have to hard cast to heal effectively so to not get interrupted you have to be out of range of those interrupts. interrupts max out at 30 yards right? so you got that 30-40 yard range window that you want to be sitting in. you cant be in the bio ball you need to be way outside of it.

You have a root with earthgrab totem (if talented) and slows with frost shock and earthbind totem to let you kite.

Most importantly you have teammates. If someone dives the backline, call it out to your team; generally they’ve overextended and should be getting punished by your teammates. If you don’t call it out 9 times out of 10 your team will never notice.

This. You bait them to follow then hard swap and kill.

Because everyone knows shamans are easy to kill, if you have a choice between a Druid , Pally, Priest or Shaman healer who will you aim for ?

Either outrange most threats or having a quick escape route with an LOS blocker typically helps a ton. The combination of being able to dodge out of LOS from ranged or too deep to be touched for melee will yield better protection than most character abilities.

also i think we’re all forgetting that theres a pvp talent that gives Resto shaman immunity to interrupts every minute with Spiritwalker’s Grace. very powerful talent

While this is good, it does nothing to stop stuns. I think there are people who don’t necessarily realize this, and will use spiritwalker’s when a melee is on them and then just get stunned anyway. It still has a learning curve to use, but helps when dealing with ranged interupts for sure.

Learning proper positioning is honestly the best way to deal with Resto’s liabilities. Just watch out for those rogues when you are sitting so far in the back.

absolutely, it wont do anything to the myriad of pseudo-interrupts but if OP is specficially having teammates die while he tries to juke spell locks, that PVP talent might be clutch.

Chains of devastation is the best leggo! Use that, run the chain heal conduit and earth shield conduit. The only way they can interrupt you is with hard stuns. And even then you will still full heal yourself with chain heal spam. Also the dmg you do is kinda insane!

Not sure if it’s been altered yet but the 9.1 Living Tide Totem PVP talent reduces the CD from 3 min to 1.5 min and doubles the healing. Sounds quite nice for crowded objectives. This is an indirect buff to Heavy Rainfall conduit. Speaking of, Healing Rain is also being buffed in 9.1 IIRC. Unleash Shield (Water) sounds good to to take down those pesky druid tanks that refuse to die. Plague Deviser Marileth gets even stronger with Viscous Trail. Unsure if capper trait will send out multiple Kevin Oozeling’s with Tumbling Waves.
