Well not quit but I’m gonna not play for awhile I guess. Want to know why don’t you, you dirty boys?
Dragonflight isn’t bad by any means. I’m not gonna throw a huge fit over the same stuff repeated over and over on these forums.
Flying with dragons? Cool, it’s different, but I like it. Got used to it, no problem, I’d say it’s a huge improvement.
Class talents? I think overall a win, although I would have liked to see more new abilities or new possibilities for different playstyles. In some ways you’re still forced to pick up a lot of abilities, giving the impression of an illusion of choice rather than pure choice. It’s better than before though, it’s just that everything feels samey from SL. I wanted more cool new buttons to press, more cool new animations or updated animations for existing stuff. Or even glyphs that would let us use old animations for abilities that some of us may like better, such as green dragonhead Chaos Bolt.
One of my main issues I have is timegating. The fact that everything is so heavily timegated just means it’s the same old Blizz doing the same old tactic to keep hamsters on that treadmill. Honestly, I think I’m just at a point in my life where I refuse to be a hamster anymore. More power to you if you enjoy that, but for me, I’d rather not be limited by systems created out of greed.
Systems? Ironically we have less systems now, sure, but I feel like the rep grinds and levels are convoluted and even the crafting is convoluted and now one of my least favorite things in the game. In a way you just replaced the previous systems with these, and it STILL feels like a chore or a job.
But on to my last point and the main reason I will stop playing for awhile: the theme and overall feel.
Don’t get me wrong, I love dragons. But I just hate how Blizz is seemingly moving more and more towards Disney-level cringe. Everywhere you go in this game, it’s starting to feel like it’s marketed for a younger and younger audience, while I am only getting older and older.
I don’t WANT to go pick up ducks or tidy up some NPC’s shop
I don’t WANT to do dragon racing with an overwhelmingly corny soundtrack slapped on it
I don’t WANT to help some NPC go give flowers or whatever to some other NPC.
I could keep going for days. I don’t want to do any of those things, I want to use my character to go fight stuff, use cool spells (that we need more of) and fight. I LOVE to fight stuff. That’s why I play this game. I don’t play this game to do literal in-game chores. Combine that with the theme and… it’s just got this overwhelmingly baby-like feel like I’m playing some Y rated children’s game.
That pretty much sums it up for me. I guess I don’t find all these lame quests fun, I want to fight more but it feels like you help NPC’s through relationships now more than fight. And the art-style just feels overwhelmingly Disney. Like, ew.
Guess it’s not my cup of tea anymore.
P.S. dragons are supposed to be awesome and scary. What we got as a playable character is NOT any of those things. It’s gross.
