I'm going to have to resub to WOW

I promise your infallible FF14 will be able to weather my criticism as well as the criticism provided by the thousands of other unhappy customers. No need to take it so personally.

Just gonna pipe in here. I dont think wow as you said should have a low pop. The game still meets my expectations and im not even a hardcore player.

All games deserve to succeed. The beauty of there being many different games and genres is that when one doesn’t work out for you, you can always look elsewhere.

Having overly high expectations for a game however isn’t good. You’ll always end up disappointed.

Thread summary: Nikolo and co giving an example of Horde vs Alliance server ratios.

The login issues haven’t been for six months. They didn’t start until Endwalker early access launch. An 18 person queue before was a few seconds long. Not several hours with errors.

You are correct, and I have since corrected the statement.

It’s not even conjestion because the servers once you are in work fine. The queue just becomes borked once it reaches over 17k people and wasn’t that way for 6 months. For six months it’s worked how queues are suppose to work. Prevent too many people from logging in at once and actually causing game server issues.

Even WoW itself will still get queues if too many people login at once.

They have had peak time server lock outs for character creation for 6 months. A remedy for the continued player congestion issues.

As a PSA, if you are a new FF14 player trying to join right now…even if you do make it through the queue, you still can’t make new characters during peak hours. It’s best to log in really late/early to get your character created on a server

No they did not. The rule that you cannot create a character on a full world has always existed. Not just for six months. I’ve been playing this game for four years. And worlds never stayed full like this until early access or previous expac launches. And just like WoW, it lasts fpr a short bit, then the tourists go do something else.

The thing that is new from the last six months is you can be logged out after inactivity for 30 minutes. And they just fixed people being able to use macros to avoid being removed.

I’ve been playing FF14 for a week, now.

My queues in the middle of the morning and afternoon are less than 500, now.

Weekends still skyrocket.

No clue what your problem is other than a “WoW is better, even though I never played anything else,” post.

Sure…but in the last 6 months they experienced a player surge which resulted in more of the servers being full than they likely have been in the last 4 years.

Perhaps it’s not a new system, but the system was made worse with the player congestion

The queues in the later afternoon until about 1 am get to be as big as the weekend because then people are home from work or school.

Even in the last six months they didn’t stay full. I just created my AuRa and Bunny back in August.

They have upgraded the servers, added Oceanic servers and are planning more datacenters. The chip shortage right now is delaying somethings and that’s gonna take time.

But most of the people logging in now will go do other things in anywhere from a week to a month and everything will return how it was anyway.

Happens every time.

Hopefully, that would be great for the players waiting. But with around 30 hours (if you don’t skip) of story content and a lot of sales over the holidays, I am not as optimistic that the problem will self-correct so quickly.

It already returns to regular queues during the week until late afternoon. It will calm down.

Yeah it truly does come down to pot meets kettle at this point. Getting a taste of their own medicine and it’s hard reality to swallow the beloved company they dedicated themselves to support is not what it used to be. Some players who left during Cataclysm - MoP kind of foreshadowed these events minus the lawsuits. However when WoD came out and the company stopped bragging about their subs in the open was a clear shine something went wrong.

We see it continue downward towards Legion through BFA and I can say it was enough to confirmed there was no recovery during Shadowlands. Now competition going to be tough for them and also becoming more of a meme that other companies shouldn’t follow.

hahaha

You being the pot lol.

Man oh man and I thought WOW players were smokin the Copium.

Denying the server issues which are all over every gaming forum is just weird and makes no sense but I guess that is the definition of a fanboy.

You folks keep letting these companies treat us like garbage and this genre will never move forward.

Stay stu… Well, you fit in the rest.

This the thing that bothers me about gaming companies today. The old school creators and companies used to give a crap about the game they make and their players.

And then

You have the idiots who smoke copium all day because its the latest thing to do and allow these companies to treat paying customers like crap.

You can see that by some of the comments here, its a dang shame.

All I’m asking for is to produce the product I paid for, I don’t care about anything else. These companies want my money then produce a quality product.

Right now FF14 is not producing a quality product because I can’t play what I paid for so don’t get mad at me for holding them accountable like everyone else.

At this point I’m wondering what we’ve debated for the last hundred posts when every argument is just dismissed and people go back to being emotional.

Firstly it IS a quality product, most people just have to wait for a while. That’s like saying that the food in a restaurant is crap, just because you can’t get a table in the next days.
It has already been stated a lot of times that SE don’t have much fault in what’s happening now because of technical stuff-shortage, related to the ongoing pandemic, and that’s a problem that most businesses have. They had a huge surge in new players a short while ago at a time where it’s not possible to snap your fingers or put a bit of money on the table and get new servers.
And again, at least there’s compensation so in the last days you didn’t even pay for anything, if we’re looking at the paid sub.

And especially the last part is the reason why I’m refusing to throw SE in the same bucket as Blizzard, because SE still cares for their playerbase obviously and try everything to calm them, while Blizzard doesn’t care in the slightest and just shrug problems off with a “Yeah, sorry for the inconvenience” and most of the time they can’t even do that. Let alone listening to feedback and create a fun game, but rather bathing in arrogance and belittling the players.

No its not a quality product at the moment and it never delivered on what it promised which was early access. I still can’t access the server during the times I can play.

Anyways, I said what I said and it ain’t going to change.

Be thankful you got a free week because of customers like me O.o

I’m still trying to process what was the point of this post. Were you trying to say something or just make noise for no reason.

That’s usually how it goes. Sometime I think people like OP and Nikolo just like to create drama instead of solving them or being rational.

Facts and that’s not being a fanboy. That’s just FFXIV stature they’ve built around their product and even outsiders who don’t play the game can see that and heard stories before this whole thing blown up.

Not their first time they’ve done generosity stuff like that. If anything be happy you was part of it before you ran back to your tent.
