You never were forced to use it.
In all honesty , RDF or LFG , whichever you prefer to call it , was a excellent addition to Wotlk. Like im unsure if this has been said or not , but the so called replacement for the lfg tool in the beta sucks! As i believe some beta testers agreed on saying it sucks. Could be wrong about that
Lfg in wotlk was fine despite its abuse of nearly being placed in the same instance when a party is formed.(yes literally you can get in the same instance multiple times as i have a distinctive memory of queing up in the rdf to be in the oculus more then once back thenâŚ)
Like if they see that as one of the main reasons to remove the rdf tool , why dont they just adjust the tool that if people cleared a instance once in rdf , they cant get that instance again in the same day Thatll pretty much completely fix that issue with rdf. Oh as for the instant telporting to instance thing , i got no problem with that for it does saves time but if the Anti rdf people find that stupid , which a bunch of em if not all of them do , then they could had just removed the instant teleporting to the instance for mainly wotlk content and possibly tbc content probably⌠classic content id keep the instance teleporting to help maintain people leveling there alts and to simply enjoy the game still if new to the game.
Thats just my mindset of a attempt to please both sides of the party while too making changes.
The wintergrasp being a bg/instance thing i think were the best option due to megaservers.
I do agree somewhat that no one aint forcing the people that dislikes doing rdf , forcing them to do rdf but from a attempt to understand there point of view , i probably can understand their hatred towards rdf for a ton of people favors rdf over the annoying whispering people to have a chance to get replied a yes theyll join the group or no they wont join the group or just simply be ignored(real WoW experience right there of Classic and back thenâŚ) but if yall hate rdf that much , wouldnt it be good to join a instance normally with guild? Thats just a thought of a real legit question.
But yeah thats my opinions/thoughts on this and if people already mentioned these particular ideas i said , i apologize for bringing the ideas up again. Read a bit of the topic. Cant bear to read through a ton of pages lol.
They refuse to see it. Its not that they dont agree with you, they probably do. Theyre also not interested in playing an MMO, clearly, or else they wouldnt be advocating for systems to bypass the open world of an MMO. While me, you and other mmo enthusiasts want to play a fun open world game, they donât actually want an mmo, just an scratch this itch simulator.
Except for the fact that weve had 3 years of evidence thst this fun open world mmo doesmt really have a social aspect to it, nor does it have a community worth preserving.
Given that, I will take efficiency everytime.
Prove it. I want numbers. Besides the reality that players with low attention spanâs actually do no enjoy the concept of MMOs. Thats the reality. Its MMOs thats not preferred.
Humans will always take the path of least resistance. Implementing the RFD or LFD will make it the more efficient method to getting what you want faster while sacrificing gameplay. Creating a dungeon group does not take as much time as some players insinuate. Its a matter of pure laziness, the I want it now mentality. The concept that eventually lead blizzard down the path they are currently on. Content doesnât come out fast enough because its trivialized by their âI dont have time,â player base.
So no RDF for one weekâŚalright.
In fairness tanks and healers, such as myself, experience group forming in far different ways.
The qualifications for a tank or a healer are fairly binary ; are you a tank or healer?
For some reason, DPS are put through advanced scrutiny even for the simplest of content.
Fairness is actually my central attribute, so I can relate.
How are you going to tell people that are playing the game daily and seeing how its playing out that theyre wrong? If it wasnt for the xp buff dungeon grouping would still be just as dead as it was 6 months ago.
You have like 3 servers where its possible to get dungeon groups at off times, the rest its pretty much non existant. They would not be consolidating servers if it was as exxagerrated as youre making it seem.
Also the content is trivial whether you have time for it or not. You could have all the time in the world but the content would still have to be pushed out because its that easy, and its only getting easier until classic mop mythics start coming out.
Do you know what the plural for anecdote is? Its called data.
Not helpful to whom? The stating of facts is not helpful to your argument so it should not be considered? Very objective of you. If Blizzard actually cared about any of the pillars they spouted they would include RDF as it is better for the game overall by encouraging participation in content.
Yall really dont see how the automated systems killed wows population? I will admit though, blizzard already lost a HUGE amount of classic supporters when tbc came out and they introduced the boost package. They really screwed the pooch on that one.
Not at allâŚmaking content more accessible without the need to stare at scrolling chat or a window to find a group sounds pretty good.
The numbers dont lie, automated systems resulted in the player base declining. Its already happened once. History shouldnât repeat itself when youâve already seen the bad outcome.
Nah, there is no solid evidence that this is what caused it. Sure subs started to dip after Wrath but so did the quality of the game. Tools are not the same as bad content.
People still complain about lfr to this day, same with wow token, sellers of content, they dont boohoo about the rdf because leveling isnt really part of the game anymore. If it was they would talk about that too.
I reached level 80 during 3.3 and used LFD to gear up.
I forgot to point out the gatekeeping at the core of the anti-RDF advocates. You shouldnât need to jump through external hoops or the validation of strangers in order to enjoy small group content. Its that fragile illusion of control over other peopleâs playstyle that they dont want to see shattered. Once your âserver repâ and âcommunity standingâ mean nothing because RDF makes you just another NPC, a lot of their self value is gone.
We were, and trying to claim weâre just making it up does no favors to your advocacy. Blizzard came out and said itâs not in the game because they want to preserve the social style of play, inferring having it in the game would force everyone to use it (hence the need for it to be preserved). Do you think it helps you? Gaslighting and screaming ânuh huhâ into the wind?
The worst part is that this is mostly a fantasy romanticized by the anti-RDF crowd. For most, especially those on mega-servers, thereâs not some server-wide fabric of community. Of course, the community exists in guilds and within individual groups, but at the end of the day, most players prioritize playability over âserver identityâ by joining these massive servers.
