Nah its not harassment, it’s game mechanics working as intended. It’s also hilarious.
No, I’m pretty sure kiting mobs onto a member of your own faction is considered harassment.
No more then tagging all the mobs and not allowing anyone else to clear them.
Working as intended
I’m only helping them out. They clearly want the entire zone, why not give it to them?
Ok, that’s pretty funny!
Exactly. Working as intended. If they die from being helped. Guess they should also have a priest with them?
This is just a problem in general. There’s too many players everywhere still - weeks later after launch - because of their dumb layering thing. They put 30,000 players in the same space as 3,000 during vanilla with some “layering” but didn’t do jack to the mob respawn timers. This seems like the most obvious thing in the world to adjust to anyone with common sense.
“DEY TERK ERR MOBS!”
Blizz pls just let me post this stop saying it’s wrong
This made me laugh more than it should have! Thanks, I needed that lol
Yeah, questing is hard enough already with so many people in the zones. Add a couple hyper mages AOEing everything in sight, and you might as well /AFK.
DI DERKAA MERRRSSS!
DURKA DRRR!!!
“Added this part cause blizzard won’t allow me to post nonsense.”
Pretty funny Reddit post out there on fun little methods. Not sure which ones you can get away with, but I gave me a good laugh.
Do you want to make enemies, fast? Got someone on your server that deserves some harassment? Fortunately, in classic WoW there are nearly endless creative opportunities to cause problems for other players. Here I will compile as many of these opportunities as possible. I will not include things as obvious as “corpse camp people” or “kill quest givers” unless there is a creative way of doing so. Some of these are well known, but others are not; I have included them all here for those both new and experienced. I will also not be including exploits, as these are for certain reportable – I will attempt to walk the line of reportable behavior.
WARNING : Use at your own risk. Classic WoW is a game of communities and reputation; make wise decisions. Additionally, some of these things may get you in trouble with GMs depending on the severity.
- Warlock Infernal/Doomguard ganking. The tried and true. You simply cannot have a list such as this without this item. A warlock summons an infernal or doomguard in a key area, dismisses it, and watches as the demon wreaks havoc for several minutes. Best way to do this is in lowbie zones, at the end of very long escort quests, on top of flight masters (puts them in combat), and on mailboxes/auctioneers to kill level 1 bank alts.
- Eyes of the Beast. The next most-popular griefing technique. A hunter trains a beast common to a low-level enemy-faction zone, and uses Eyes of the Beast to trick low level players into flagging themselves. Then murder them until the flag expires.
- Stealthed aggressive pet on main roads. A hunter (especially nightelf) puts a stealthed, aggressive pet on the main road of a low level enemy-faction zone and AFKs in a nearby bush. Watch your favorite stream while the corpses pile up.
- Mind control. So many griefing methods with this. Mind Control people off of boats (after they leave the dock but before they zone over). Mind Control an enemy who is fighting your faction and shield/heal/buff them. Mind Control someone into lava or off cliffs to cause durability damage. Mind Control someone standing next to friendly elite NPCs who won’t be so friendly anymore.
- Fear. Another great multi-purpose griefing tool. Fear the mobs that a mage is trying to aoe. Fear someone’s mob in crowded areas. Make someone follow you near the “exit BG” portal in wsg, then fear them into it for an easy 9v10. Cast Curse of Recklessness on enemy players/mobs (especially elites) fighting friendly warlocks/priests so they can’t be feared.
- Debuffing allies. Carry Linen Bandages and give people Recently Bandaged when they’re low on health. Give priests rank 1 bubble to cause Weakened Soul.
- Teabaging. It simply isn’t enough to kill someone. teabaging is a great way to send a message, and fortunately there are several ways to teabag in classic WoW. Obviously there is sit spam (default key ‘x’) but the best-in-slot teabag in the game is the undead racial Cannibalize. You can also place a campfire, create totems, summon pets, anything you can on top of their body as acts of disrespect. This is particularly valuable if you do it before they release spirit.
- Don’t gank lowbies, make them unable to play. Sure you can kill them, but then you have nothing to do until they rez. Instead you can:
- Drain/Burn their mana
- Keep them in combat so they can’t eat or drink
- Kill their pet
- Tag the named mobs they go for
- Chain-snare/CC them
- etc… Get creative!
-
Chain banish/poly mobs tagged by other players.Nerfed in Classic. - Summon someone deep underwater so they drown and lose durability. Use water breathing on yourself and the other summoners.
- Buy many, many copies of [Peeling the Onion] (or alliance equivalent) from the AV vendor and mail them to people until their mailbox is full. These items are free, and cannot be vendored once purchased. Hopefully the other person has a mail addon
- Give Rank 1 healthstones and buffs. Most people don’t notice until it’s too late.
- Always break other players’ CC.
- Follow stealthed rogues trying to duel, particularly if you have Paranoia or Track Hidden. Make a macro that says “he’s right here”.
- Go to your realm forums and find out when the enemy faction’s guilds raid. Then go find them as they collect world buffs and purge/kill their world buffs off. Juiciest targets are main tank, main healer, and top dps.
- Do you only need the first boss of an instance? Form a group for the dungeon, kill the boss, then “accidentally” wipe shortly after. During the corpse run, reset the instance. Players will either leave the group (saving you from running the rest of the dungeon) or clear the first boss again.
- Kill rarespawns that hunters want to tame, especially while they’re trying to tame them.
- Brush up on your cross-faction language. Pro-tip: all alliance to horde messages can be sent from undead (gutterspeak) to alliance.
- Blessing of Protection on people opening chests so you can get it yourself. Esfand recently did this on stream.
- Always leave the worst item from chests. The chest will not despawn and the next player to find it will face disappointment.
- Refuse to cap the flag in wsg. There are some very good places to hide the flag (look them up), and in vanilla you don’t appear on the map. You can stall games for dozens of additional minutes, depending on how good the enemy team is.
- Use [Hallowed Wand - Wisp] on players (especially healers) right before big pulls in raids or big fights in BGs. In wisp form, you cannot cast anything or use any abilities. It may take several seconds before they realize what’s wrong, and it could cause a wipe or loss.
- Spam loud mount noises. Particularly the undead horse has one of the most obnoxious screeches in the game. Press space (which makes the noise), then backpedal. Repeat as fast as you can. This is the vanilla equivalent of the train toy.
…and that’s all I can think of right now.
e: a great one from the other thread
24. Aspect of the pack in battlegrounds.
e: 25. Water walking on people jumping into water from high places.
e: 26. If you see someone skinning, never fully loot your corpses near them.
e: 27. Share quests in battlegrounds and raids.
e: 28. Play a retribution paladin.
Some I definitely wouldn’t recommend but for a good laugh I suggest reading them
You’re going about this all wrong.
Just tag a couple of your own mobs and run them into his AOE and he will assist you with killing them!!
You might as well be writing your own name on the Blacklist if you do these things.
Was a funny read though
Indeed. 10/10, would read again.
SO much this. Some people chose this class simply because they enjoy playing it. I’ve actually been kicked from dungeon groups because I refused to just spam aoe spells like some kind of ADHD Pikachu. My DPS isn’t low, I don’t pull extra mobs, I give the tank time to get aggro before casting my spells, I just choose to play the game in a way that’s fun for me. It’s gotten to the point, I start all my own groups now and make it perfectly clear when inviting people that it’s NOT an aoe speed run group.
I don’t even aoe farm when questing. I kill one (or two) things at a time depending on the level difference and if I notice that I accidentally tag something right before someone else hits it, I’ll whisper them to apologize. I’m in no rush to get to 60, when I’m online it’s just to relax, have fun, and destress after a long day at work. Yet I’ve gotten so many nasty whispers from people telling me to “f*ck off” and leave an area I’m questing in just because I’m a mage. That sh-t is childish as hell.
Honestly, I’m just hoping that with 8.2.5 dropping on retail this week that a lot of these people with the “zerg everything” retail mentality and the toxic asshats get the tf off Classic and let the rest of us just enjoy the game.
This sounds very frustrating. I’m not trying to paint all mages with this brush, just the FOTM ones for lack of a better term.
Someone is jealous they don’t have an AoE
Come back when wrath servers are released.
Mages are getting tired of your AoE whining.
