I'm Curious, Who Else Hates Using Trinkets You Have To Activate Manually?

I have always hated them too.

I despise active trinkets. Just one more thing to manage/macro and most of the time the on-use is stupid and so not worth the CD they put them on.

Passive procs are always best.

I remember thinking one I got was going to be great until I actually had to use it. After a while I wished I had gotten a passive one instead.

OMG! I am not alone! I always go for auto proc trinkets over ability ones. For me it is too much to remember and fit it. I always forget to use them!

Some trinkets are flat broken though. Like the level 55 trinket Rammsteins Bolts that do 1551 damage to EVERYTHING around you every 3 minutes. That trinket beats every trinket I’ve seen up to my current item level of around 138

Well since i mainly just quest… i prefer the random proc trinkets. I only use the clickable ones for like something super hard otherwise i try to only upgrade to the ones that proc themselves

I like it, It should be a good way to add some ability’s as well for the devs.
I had wonder why they seem to got rarer over the years a bit.

I like on use trinkets. They help me feel like I still have a little control over things.

I don’t like the ones that don’t line up with any cooldowns which are most. Usually trinkets have a shorter cooldown than spells with a cooldown, so it’s difficult to macro them. if you have a weakaura they’re not bad, but many don’t seem worth the hassle.

wait…
what?
People really enjoy having to use 3 or 4 keyboards just to battle?

I much prefer the chance to proc myself instead of the manual ones simply for as those stated above I’m always forgetting to use them. So I’ll just chalk it up to being forgetful/lazy as to why I prefer the chance to proc vs manual trinkets

Passive is always easy, although it’s nice to have the extra power or whatever WHEN you need it rather than just randomly, but that’s for those that remember.

:paperclip:

Damn, this thread is why we have 4 abilities and a million random procs now.

Unless I macro them onto something else or they’re a rather large game-changer like a bonus defensive CD on a tank, they’re honestly forgotten.

Offensive trinkets are off the GCD. You can macro it into meta, or like I do on my priest for shadowfiend. The ideal trinket setup is one proc, and one on-use macroed into a burst ability, or throughput based CD. Thus, it eliminates the issue you speak of here.

The only clicky trinket I like and use is the Lions Guile. It lines up well with hunter CDs; lets me get massive burst at the start of the fight.

I dont mind them on WoW because there aren’t that many sbilities to manage. When Im playing SWTOR, I tend to avoid them more. But thats also partially because their trinkets are fairly…well, boring, so the less i have to worry about them, the better.

I don’t mind manual trinkets as much, but I hate it when the proc rate is reduced for tanks for no reason what so ever.

LOL I agree. I don’t “power” play so I don’t even care most of the time. Usually the trinkets seem to proc within the first few seconds of a fight so that’s fine.

I’m of the belief that unless you’re min/maxing your numbers for progression the random process trinkets are the way to go. If you are pushing upper end content then yes having the on-use trinkets is almost a must.
