I'm convinced M+ challenge modes was a bad idea

Look at how many can’t handle this mode at all. Creates so much toxic behavior and people treat each other so badly. And I’m pretty sure most of this is due to the timer on the dungeon (maybe make it more lenient in lower keys then progressively tighter?).

A good majority cannot handle this competitive content without trying to 100% guarantee the outcome. At that point what is the point of the challenge mode? We have such a risk averse community that it creates terrible attitudes and zero patience in so many people.

Not to mention Blizzard gives them all a tool to easily leave without penalty and they still complain about it.

There is no winning here.

9/10 go smooth without a hitch. What you on about?

M+ is probably the main reason why WoW is still alive and didn’t die off with the rest of the genre.

That and collectors. Don’t forget them!

I’m pretty sure it’s actually a small group that runs M+ especially if there’s millions of players and maybe a few hundred thousand characters run this in NA alone. Probably 80 to 90% don’t even run keys much if at all.

As in anything in life there are people you don’t want to hang out with, Occasionally you get in a group with them. Most every group is filled with good people.

I doubt your numbers on the percentage of players that run them, at least at max level. I would say more than half I see in dorn have some kind of rating. Maybe the other millions are off leveling or collecting, I don’t know what they do

For me m+ is a great activity to keep people in the guild engaged, playing in groups, and talking in discord. If we just raided 4 hours a week and did nothing else it would be far less interesting

Fact is you’re wrong.

I think not downgrading keys would help a great deal in M+. Some of the pressure and toxicity is people not wanting their key bricked or downgraded.

Getting the timer with all the affixes is challenging enough, there shouldn’t be extra punishments on the owner of the key who has little control of how things go.

Hard mode is hard.

It’s optional content with no rewards.

It is exclusively because of the timer.

I’m a tank main and I do M+ quite a bit and it’s very rare to see toxicity. If it happens to you a lot I’d start working to get better at it. Should people be toxic? No, but a lot of people who play WoW lack proper social skills so they resort to it. Don’t take it personally, but do try to extract any valuable information from someone acting that way to see if you can do something different.

this is my experience as well

Try filling your vault on a Monday lmao

It is not exclusively due to timer. The timer is nothing more than a reasonable expected time to finish the dungeon. Without a timer people would still want out. Not everyone wants to spend an hour in a dungeon with multiple wipes when they could be in another group and run two in that time

Eh, nah
The toxicity is basically all from the timer

That was me last night. I needed two more +10s for a full vault and neither was timed but they got completed and nobody behaved badly.

Think they’re trying to kill it with delves.

11 new delves in the expansion.

Personally I wouldn’t mind but the rewards are so good you’re all but required to grind them alongside m+ for a good 3 or 4 weeks.

Once you’re past a gear threshold they’re 99% pure fall asleep boredom and 1% obnoxiously annoying deaths from some weird combination of affixes and Brann stupidity.

I’m sure they’re great for people the wont or cant do group content, and that’s great. But my god, like all single player content, once it’s solved it’s boring as hell, and dipping so far into the group content gearing path with the rewards might not be positive engagement.

I doubt a few hundred thousand characters are running the 50 million+ total keys that are done each season.
