I'm convinced Elune has abandoned the Night Elves and Tyrande is a puppet of the old gods

It would explain why Elune has seemingly failed to intervene in the events of the war. Tyrande lost Elune’s favor when she decided to abandon her home to the forsaken army. If Tyrande had stayed to defend her people, Elune may have actually used her divine powers to stop Sylvanas from burning the tree. The sudden change in Sylvanas’ plans from “capture” to “burn” may have been planted into her mind by Elune as a “punishment” for Tyrande abandoning her duties as the high priestess of Elune.

When Tyrande was given the chance to avenge her people in the battle for undercity, she instead decided to stay with her man. Again, this is not behavior fitting of a leader, so Elune influenced the battle to ensure the Alliance would be robbed of a victory.

Tyrande failed at every crucial moment as the voice of Elune and was abandoned by her goddess. Tyrande no longer has the divine protection of Elune, and N’Zoth begins to speak to her and impersonate Elune. N’Zoth convinces Tyrande to become corrupted with his void energy under the guise of it being an ascension ritual using a term familiar to her, “night warrior.” The light of Elune has been extinguished within Tyrande, and N’Zoth now has full control over the elves.

The plot implications are clear. The night elves are now N’Zoth’s pawns, an army for him to corrupt the Alliance from within. They are his “plan B” in case Azshara gets killed. With the night elves under his control, he could regain access to the dream and recreate the nightmare. Malfurion won’t be able to stop him this time if he’s now a puppet.

Elune continues to show her sign of favor by the Black Moon cast over Darkshore when it is time for the Night Elves and their allies to battle forth. She never has been in her entire history a figure of direct action, rather one of empowring champions when she can.

do you think that elune will literally descend from the heavens and smite everyone?
because that is not how her power works.

What would it take to convince you otherwise?

We see her reach down into Val’sharah with tendrils of her moon magic and pull Ysera’s spirit into the sky as a constellation. So, yes. I do expect her to do something. She has made herself known to her faithful and has demonstrated her power.

Ysera was a being nearly as old as Azeroth itself, with deep and intricate ties to the Dream and Elune. Pulling Ysera up to be with her would be a given considering both their power levels.

On a similar note, it’s not totally unreasonable to believe that the slumbering state Ysera went into in her final moments is the same the people of Teldrassil went into as the tree burned. I tell myself they’re with Elune now so I don’t get too sad.

Big difference between intervening to smite enemies and intervening to stop most of a race who devoutly worships you burning to death.

and tell me, what exactly making ysera a constellation accomplished?
do you think that is impressive? and that was useful because…?

There is another possibility: Sylvanas is a pawn of Elune(whom Xal’atath called a great enemy) who drove Sylvanas to destroy Teldrassil because it is an Old God-created eyesore that needed to be destroyed.

Considering the true enemy was able to influence Vol’jin while near death Elune might have power over those on the other side and thus seek to turn the entire Alliance Undead just so that she can control it.

Tyrande after becoming the Avatar of the Night Warrior expresses regret for not killing Saurfang despite him not having anything to do with Teldrassil’s destruction. If Elune is backing Sylvanas then she would obviously want Saurfang dead and Tyrande an Avatar.

Guiding the souls of the dead is a far different matter than physical intervention. And it was only possible due to a solar eclipse.

It established that the goddess the night elves worship does in fact exist. It shows that the priestesses of Elune are actually channeling the power of their goddess. It demonstrates that Tyrande isn’t just channeling the power of “the light” through her faith, but is in fact using the divine power of Elune, and the night elves really were under the protection of their moon goddess who actually had divine power.

The implications were clear. Elune exists, and she was actually willing to take action. The fact that she does absolutely nothing as her most loyal followers are torched to death speaks volumes.

Someone isn’t up on the lore.
Teldrassil was wholly purified as of Cataclysm. There was no more Nightmare taint left in it.

Or it may very well be that the actions she can take are limited. Perhaps she does not have a physical existence and as a result can not act in the physical plane. That’s why her past actions have always been of empowering guardians and her followers and it’s up to her followers to channel her gifts in the right manner.

but she did intervene in elegy, she confused saurfang mind to spare malfurion and gived a peaceful death to the lasts who died.

like i said, if you expect her to descend from the moon and kill everyone you are wrong, that is not how her power works.
she exist, that is undeniable, but her manifestations are always with her priestess and that is pretty much it.

She had nothing to do with Saurfang’s hesitancy, that was all on his own agency. And her intervention in the fall of Darnassus was again, non physical, and not witnessed by any who survived to tell the tale.

Unless Elune is just a conduit for the Light.

Anyway, I think you missed the point. Elune making Ysera a constellation proves she can do ‘things’. We’ve always known she can do ‘things’. We still don’t really know what those ‘things’ entail.

I said it above, nobody was expecting the Horde army to be burned in arcane moonfire but she didn’t even lift a finger to extinguish the flames or even try to save the Night Elves and it’s frankly not good enough. Even Tyrande calls her out on it.
