I'm considering race changing to Gnome

This toon was originally a Draenei but the moment I saw them release velfs in legion, I race changed. Velfs are very pretty but…I’ve finally given up due to the broken animations that Blizz has obviously decided to never fix since they’ve been broken since legion and if they haven’t fixed them by now, I think it safe to assume they never will. So the next race I can think of that fits a mage has gotta be a Gnome for obvious reasons. I’m curious if anyone else has had any experience with broken animations for Gnome before I race change again.

Thanks!

Only real issue I can report is shoulder transmogs . . . then again that’s an issue for almost everyone now isn’t it. That said you CAN make it work with proper planning (see browse collections tab) and perhaps checking out certain npc looks. Got my shoulder idea from the Gilnean royal guard npcs in BFA (Greymane’s guards)

Do it  gogogo!

Long staves will clip with the floor, but when you see your little cutie, and you look at their smol little face, it won’t matter! Distraction via cuteness <3

Go gnome or go home.

Dang I thought I was gonna beat Wild here. Shoulda known better.

Also, I can only report 2 issues with gnomes - 1. You can and will get stuck on boxes in instances. Just avoid them and 2. Warrior animations break but that’s been my experience with warrior class and not exclusive to my gnome one.

Broken animations… so human is not an option?
Don’t get me wrong I love gnomes

Yea shoulders and long staves can be a bit of an issue but its not too bad. But equally bad is tall races and robes. They look so bad on mounts due to the fact that your robe slices your mount in half . Not really an issue on small races.

Yea, warrior animations are borked on certain races. I believe its an issue with 1h or 2h dual wield? Basically there is no off-hand animation programmed into the game. At all. And as a result, there is no animation for warriors attacking anything with their off-hand weapon. The weapon kinda just sits there doing nothing. Kinda hilariously massive oversight when you think about it, but there you go.

Mine’s 2h dual wield as fury on gnome and orc, both female. They kinda freeze sometimes and yeah it’s weird. I have a gnome mage and priest worked up as well and their casting animations have never bugged out on me. They do make the cutest little angry faces when they cast though :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Gnomes are the best. Female gnomes look great with their shoulders shut off.

Isn’t this basically the same as quitting the game?

What you can try:

  • Copy your character to the PTR
  • Wait until race change becomes available on that character (it’s random)
  • Race change to Gnome
  • Log in and… do stuff

Oh i’m testing right now by simply using a trial Gnome mage.

I really like gnomes
