I’ve had the expac pre ordered but I never really looked into the features. I know warbands are a thing. In the previous xpac I fizzled out after using a level up token because everything seemed to be about spamming heroics at that point and now I’m trying to see if I can find a groove with the RP community on WrA but I have no clue what the point of anything is.
Retail WoW is a bloated monstrosity of a game, and just dropping a new quest on my UI for when I log in isn’t doing it for hooking me into the game.
Sorry you feel that way. There’s actually a very streamlined way of playing the newest content. Wouldn’t call it bloated. Wouldn’t call it a monstrosity. Would call it fun

Tackle one thing at a time, my friend. There’s a lot of stuff to do, but you may value that abundance once you get your bearings. The story took a little bit of time for me to get into, but once I was under ground, I was having more fun. On top of this, the content is very fun.
I haven’t been keeping my ear to the ground on the RP front, but as far as gameplay is concerned, WoW is in a good place.

If it turns out to not be your thing anymore, that’s okay too. We all grow and evolve, and the things we used to like might not always be things we continue to like. So if you continue to find the game distasteful after awhile, it’s okay to stop…even though we all joke that one never leaves WoW. ![:stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:](https://d38bqls1q93fod.cloudfront.net/en/wow/images/emoji/twitter/stuck_out_tongue.png?v=12)
I think it CAN be really overwhelming to step into, especially if you’re starting from max level. It’s why I always prefer to start a new character–even a different spec–from a level 1 toon, because seeing my action bars filled with unfamiliar abilities just freaks me out. That’s not an issue with the game, just my own spicy brain.
As far as the quest dropping on you, I’m assuming you’re talking about Jaina/Thrall talking to you? That’s just a breadcrumb so you know where the heck you’re supposed to start with the new expansion’s storyline. I think it’s almost impossible to not have something like that in a game this old, where there are SO many stories and a new player might not know what they’re supposed to do. But again: if you take some time to learn things and still find the game doesn’t suit you anymore, it’s okay to walk away! Doesn’t mean the game is objectively bad, it’s just not good for you anymore, and there’s nothing wrong with that!

I somewhat shared your sentiment when I came back around the end of BFA. It really didn’t take me all that long to figure most things out though especially with the help of YouTube videos. I do think that Blizz needs to do a much better job of explaining systems and such through gameplay as opposed to someone having to go outside of it to learn how to play.
My advice is just pick out something you want to do and just do it. Don’t be concerned about achievement points. If you been away from the game for a good while, you will absolutely never catch up with long time players. Keep in mind WoW has ALOT of hikikomori type; it is important not to try and compete with these guys because we regular working stiffs can’t!
