I'm all for the deserter debuff, but maybe you could also make the game stop disconnecting mid-dungeon!?!?

Also, people, maybe give players who dc a chance to reconnect before kicking them? A little bit of courtesy, perhaps?

Disconnected players should not receive deserter debuffs at all.

Seriously – I have never seen this many glitches in wow in my life ever.

This is why nobody plays ironman on WoW. Game is too glitchy and buggy and you will just get randomly DC’d.

so rip-chord gameplay begins!

people would abuse that - there is no way for the game to tell if it was a legitimate disconnect or intentional.

IF you lose connection to the game but NOT your internet connection then you did NOT pull the plug yourself. That is unless you suddenly told your firewall to block WoW.

I’d argue it really doesn’t matter. Will it be exploited by some players? Sure. Will it be exploited by enough players to completely negate the point of the debuff for the majority of the playerbase? Unlikely. People are lazy and there’s way too many toxic premades infesting the pug scene or people suffering from legitimate DCs to ignore. Just take a look at the wasteland that is the epic bg pug scene. Premades farming pugs as far as the eye can see.

Add a “no premade” option to the queuing option. Click that and you cannot queue as a group does not meet anyone else that did. Only single character queues.

Deserter debuff should also not apply when you’re automatically queued into LFR mid way through or before a boss you’ve already completed.

So people never fill if someone leaves.

Errrr, you do realize the way it worked up until recently for many years was that you could bail without incurring the deseter debuff so long as you participated in at least 1 boss kill, right?

Pretty sure all those previous LFR groups across the many years were able to backfill fine most of the time.

But notice what’s missing? that people have to kill something.

Missing? But weren’t you talking about the scenario where people in LFR would bail after killing a boss, thus necessitating backfills? Or do you mean backfills popping in and then bailing when they see it wasn’t fresh? If it’s the latter, then I guess blizz should have just kept it as it was as it appears the old deserter debuff would have served its purpose adequately.

New people killing something is different from old people killing something and leaving.

Yeah, the only real solution is FIX THE DISCONNECTS

I’m all for giving people grace period within reason, but if they were to do what you said, all that’s going to happen is certain people will just dc to dodge the leaver penalty when they didn’t get the drop they wanted or what have you.

suppose that WoW could be set to locally check if there is an internet connection. if you get DC without internet going down then chances are it isn’t your fault.

Yes this exactly. Getting the debuff for leaving after going back to get a boss you missed due to being queued into a partially finished raid should not get you the debuff. It didn’t used to be that way did it? I don’t recall ever getting that debuff in dragonflight after leaving after a boss.
