Illuminated Sigils is unhealthy for tank balance

On live currently, there are still only six tanks in the top 200 that aren’t VDH, and the first of those shows up on the board at 39. It’s clear that the sigil nerfs put into place a couple weeks ago weren’t sufficient to make a dent in comparative viability for high end mythic plus.

As things stand on the beta, nothing further has been done to change Illuminated Sigils or otherwise significantly rein in VDH AoE CD. This single talent point still effectively doubles the AoE CC of a spec that already possesses at least as much AoE CC as any other spec in the game.

This is a gross amount of value for a single talent point, and will stand to swing the tank meta for another season if additional action isn’t taken. It is discouraging for players of other classes, and unhealthy for the tanking role to assume so much additional group responsibility for mob control. If anything, this responsibility should be placed much more substantially into the hands of DPS specs.

Please consider removing the additional sigil charge for non-DPS sigils from this talent.

Or just remove the talent entirely. I’m getting rather sick of the peer pressure. I didn’t get all my Heroic, M+ and AOTC clears by being a lamppost. When I screw up I know why and how to fix it and the answer has never been ‘more sigils’.

You can remove it but give me ways to use talent points to buy a 2nd sigil of each. Double sigils isn’t bad, it’s double chains that makes us amazing. All we are doing with silences and fears is stopping some caster damage which most can heal through.

I’m leveling my monk brm and I can tell you a well placed leg sweep is pretty effective against most pulls. Ring of peace helps too. What is annoying AF is running around trying to run around and clump them all up.

So my suggestion is that we can purchase 2 fire fear and silence with 2 talent points each only 1 chains. Chains is what makes us OP.

Ring of peace and leg sweep are by no means comparable to chains and silence x2.

In uldaman, VDH can solo lock down the 3 pulls after the snake boss by themselves for the entirety of the pull. No one else is doing that.

On BDK I have blinding sleet and 2x death grips to interrupt some hail of stones.

It’s serviceable sure. Not comparable.

Didn’t say they were comparable. I’m saying other tank specs have aoe silences and ROP is an interrupt on a 45s cd. Are they the same no, but my point is take chains away from VDH and I think we fall back to the bottom.

In fact if I had my choice I would give up sigil of silence to keep double chains any day of the week.

I do think chains is the better of the two, because it’s a disrupt. Those are always better until you hit DR on them.

I’m in the camp that each tank should have a displacement effect too. I’d rather they just dial back the kit though. Even without damage VDH is still great.

Sigils are mechanically neat and unique to them though. I’m glad they have that identity.

I do think they will make some changes. The easy button is making our sigils point based and make decisions. Misery 2 points chains 2 points fire 2 points and silence 2 points.

The two sigil talent can go. Id rather get back to the fiery brand build and spread. Or use some other defensives that makes us more tanky like soul monger.

I think it’s close but on beta, I’m basically running the same build as today and that’s because it’s too strong. I love the sigils identity though. The dev nailed it with the rework.

Good news, this was just needed in the latest patch on beta.

You forgot Gorefiend’s Grasp and Abomb Limb.

Limb can be wonky because you can’t control what you’re pulling sometimes, but it is good at what it does.

Grasp has been too expensive to pick up point wise for awhile. The spec has to get too many other impactful things in lieu of grasp (before and after the blood talent revamp).

Reminder that wi th out illum sigils, vdh still has 4 aoe stops
