Blizzard needs to make adjustments to this Illuminated sigils change. I feel like they just made this change without any thought.
First, Elysian Decree should still have 2 charges. We are already losing soul generation from the lack of tier set plus this change is for utility sigils so idk why Elysian would lose a charge.
Second, they nerfed Sigil of Silence multiple times and Cycle of Binding because Illuminated sigils was to strong. How does it make sense to change Illuminated sigils but not revert some of the nerfs?
Sigil of silence went from 6 second duration to 5 seconds then went from 5 seconds to 4 seconds. It also had its cooldown increased to 90 seconds. Cycle of binding went from 3 second sigil cdr to 2 second sigil cdr. All these nerfs were perfectly fine WHEN illuminated sigils had 2 charges.
Also the last note, I think it’s funny how the whole vdh rework was suppose to be centered around having a sigil identity and now it’s gone. All that’s left of the rework is 2 charges of sigil of flame and some parry. I never liked the vdh rework and this was one of my reasons. It was gonna be too strong and blizzard was gonna nerf it to the ground, and look what happened.
You saw vdh and assumed crying which isn’t the case. You missed the whole point of the post. Blizzard does this with every class. Since you’re a guardian Druid I’ll use them as an example. Season 2 they nerfed their rage generation talent (idk what it is) because of their tier set also generating rage, and then the tier set goes away season 3 but blizzard doesn’t revert the nerf to the talent.
Personally I would prefer that Elysian Decree also get two charges (even if they reduce the damage), but they’re not going to compensate buff DH utility, nor should they.
Even with nerfed single sigils, having both Sigil of Silence and Chains and 5% magic still makes Demon Hunters top tier in the utility department.
In the defensive department, it’s largely a wash with the other tools DH’s are gaining, especially from the Fel Scarred tree which has some nutty defensive tools. If Illuminated Sigils still sucks, then DH’s just won’t take it. The spec currently plays around it, but it doesn’t have to.
I agree with everything except I wouldn’t consider it a compensation buff if you are reverting nerfs that was solely centered around illuminating sigils having 2 charges and now it doesn’t. It makes it weak now. In Legion, BFA, Shadowlands, and DF season 1 & 2, sigil of silence was NEVER an issue. Sigil of silence was perfectly fine until they gave it 2 charges, nerfed it (which I agree with), then took away the 2 charges and left us with the nerfed version of it. Do you see how that math works?
I mean for reference, with the recent update, Blood DK’s got GFG buffed so for a 2 talent investment you get an AoE grip and a 3 second AoE silence on a 90s cooldown.
DH’s for the same point investment get Chains and Silence as separate abilities (Chains 60s, Silence 90s CD, 4s duration).
Generally speaking DH’s are still coming out on top since very few packs where you want to silence and chains you want to do both at the same time (it’s kinda redundant displacing caster mobs when they’re already silenced and typically displace themselves, yknow?).
Single sigil DH’s are still coming out on top even with the nerf because double CC sigils put them that far ahead.
Different seasons had different requirements. DH’s aren’t going to be useless due to utility, they’re just going to be less overpowered than they would have been otherwise since the feedback from the beta is that M+ is going to need a pretty extreme amount of control for many dungeons.
Maybe they want to keep it the same cd as similar effects, warriors and dk can also mass silence on a 90 seconds cd. Theirs is worse than dh, because they have extra requirement.
