Doing all of Legion again for the first time since BFA launched and I just realized I have no idea where we find Illidan.
I remember at the beginning they steal him and then at some point we recover him because he is on the Broken Shore and then on the Vindicar. Where do we find him? I for the life of me can’t remember.
Gul’dan had his soul in a crystal or something, I think
The Hunt for Illidan Stormrage quest chain in 7.0 and 7.1. The TL;DR is that his soul was in the Twisting Nether, then stolen by Helya, then freed to take back his body at the end of Nighthold.
Illidan gets brought back at the end of Nighthold when Gul’dan’s plan to use his soul / body to act as a vessel for Sargeras fails. And then we get him out of there and he joins the Horde / Alliance / Legionfall people to fight back the Legion.
Gul’dan stole his body from the Warden Jail.
We were unfortunately forced to retrieve his soul which was with Helya for some reason.
I thought I had done all the quests. I must have missed it.
