i never really did the quests in outland more than what was required to get past it. I just finished the audio book for illidan and i absolutely loved it.
do the quests in outland line up with the book as far as being able to be apart of akama’s treachery or seeing/helping Maiev. There was talk about Kael’Thas disappearing, but i know the back story into why.
is it worth going back to do these quests? do they have a good story if i read the quests and not just go kill 10 rabbits?
I am unfamiliar with the quest text for Outland, sorry. I don’t recall anything memorable other than hating it so much. I did it as the last leg of my loremaster, the quests are so archaic… It was rough. I love illidan and I know some quests in shadowmoon related, but in relation to the book… I cannot say.
Why would you comment if your answer was ‘I dont know?’ Kind of odd is all. O.o
Yes, it lines up with what happened in Burning Crusade. Some people will say it’s all one big retcon in relation to Illidan’s presence and goals, it does take liberty with things like the portal opening but it mainly explores where Maiev was and how she got into her predicament. It’s a really good look at Burning Crusade through a different perspective. Think Illidan’s version of Arthas’ book. It also teaches you a lot about demon hunters.

I had replied more to bump the topic in the hopes that someone who had the answer would respond. Unfortunately that did not happen for 11 more days, but at least someone answered. There was a bit of forum spam during the time of the question and I get worried some threads get lost in the wave. It had been a day with no answer and the thread had fallen quite a bit down the page. Apologies for posting without a definitive answer.
To OP: However I do stand by that Outland loremaster is a rough one to go for. If you want the achievement, then great. But I do not believe you’ll get much extra story for Illidan through it. Much of it glossed over the details and some of it has been covertly retconned to fit the Legion expansion narrative. There are glaring plot holes as well when comparing its lore to Legion. The lore can be found on sites that go over character lore and stories, like the wowpedia and wowwiki sites. Quest text itself can be found on WoWhead.
