You keep implying people are “at the bottom of the barrel”. Many people do not have the knowledge of addons or how they work, they just know they are good or bad. In this case many people think it goes against the spirit of the game and goes about breaking it. Yes you have your technical terms, but that is not always what is important. Perception, game play and fun are also important. People that do not have fun and think its cheating will leave the game. I suppose you will think thats a good thing because you want your vision for the game. Not everyone has the same vision and we must share this game because its a mmorpg.

If you stopped using Spy, you’d just use one of the other detection addons.

I’m testing my own Spy-like addon right now, but I don’t know if I’ll ever really complete it. It lacks features that Spy has at the moment, but it seems to detect targets better and has additional features that Spy doesn’t have. I’ll need to add more features found in Spy and form additional detection methods that I don’t think Spy has yet. Then if I can even get through all of that I’ll need to optimize it. I’ve been distracted doing things like making it alert me to friends and guildies in the friendly target list or doing Classic WoW stuff. Stupid fun! Getting in the way!

Anybody who thinks spy shouldn’t be broken by Blizzard is delusional. This add on isn’t just quality of life, it’s so obscenely good that if you don’t have it you are at a severe disadvantage.
