I'll never spend another dollar on the in-game shop

How long you plan on taking it?

I bought a sparkle pony eons ago… I don’t think I’ve ever used it…

That being said, all things should be earn-able in game ( they are sorta, if you know the gold game)

The old TCG’s should just straight up be free, the scalpers are out of control trying to charge 7k for Feldrakes and who knows what for roosters and spectral tigers. Blizz releasing them through twitch drops is awesome, really takes the wind out of scalper’s sails if blizzard cuts the value 90% haha!

No rage here, just shocked Blizzard would dump on their cash-shop customers like this. I can’t think of a single other game that’s ever taken paid content and given it away for free after countless people have paid real money for it. Not without reparations anyways.

Sets a precedent. “Anything on this shop may end up in-game for free at any point”, so why would anyone pay for these items with cash?

Like I said, no rage. I just wont buy anything from the shop anymore.

Don’t spend money on digital cosmetic crap.

Buying digital games is also an issue in some instances - try playing OG Warcraft 3…

Unless you got some spare money that you won’t miss.

Honestly I look at it the same way I do Mythic raid appearances. When you buy a cosmetic mount, it’s still exclusive until it appears on the Trading Post. The fact that the Celestial Steed isn’t exclusive now doesn’t stop the fact that it WAS exclusive for however many years. Same with Mythic raid appearances. Just because I can go back and solo Mythic SoO doesn’t mean that it wasn’t very impressive at the time for people who got the gear when it was current.

If I win the $1 Billion lottery, I still wouldn’t. But, with your money, spare or not, you do you.

Eh I get ya.

I’ve just had some friends choose game stuff over stuff like. Bills.

I bought the Flying Sparkle Pony the first day it was available back in WotLK.

I’m happy as heck that people can get it from the Trading Post now. I’ve gotten great use out of mine and it doesn’t hurt my enjoyment of one of the best mounts in the game to be available to everyone.

I’d buy you one.

But then I’d request that you don’t tell anyone how nice I am… ever.

the mount has been around for 13 years.
i never see anyone riding it.
it’s pretty awful looking tbh.

i wasn’t even willing to spend tendies to buy it. :stuck_out_tongue:

that said, if a thing brings you joy and you have money to burn, then i don’t see the problem with buying stuff from the cash shop.

enjoy waiting years, if not decades, for something you want to move from the shop to the trading post just so you can ‘stick it to them’ and get it for free.

Plenty of games include paid content updates along with a deep discount for games released 12 years ago. Stroll though Steam sometime.

This happens all the time. Old things are sold for a discount or given away as part of another promotion.

How do you handle it when something you bought goes on sale IRL? Or when a store gives something you bought away for free when someone buys a different item?

It is an age old sales tactic. I am surprised you were not aware this happens, and will continue happening, as long as sales and marketing exist.

Steam gives things away free sometimes if I recall.

lol… good question… over 10 of those years I quit wow and played a couple of real MMO’s. Came back 6mo ago, made the big mistake of a 6mo subscription cause some family members were playing it.

Now I’m looking forward to another long break… I’ll let you know how long a break in about 10 more years, give or take the possibility of “never”.

I’ll keep it a secret if it’s something pink.

What makes you think it’ll take years? Another mount or pet could be on the shop next month. Maybe one every month, who knows?

Which is why I said it’s a poor precedent to set. There’s no trust in the shop anymore, as any item COULD be put in the game for free the next month.

Whether or not you buy shop items or think they’re stupid, it doesn’t matter. This could hurt Blizzards bottom line as there are a ton of people who buy these items that may be looking at the shop differently now.

I was actually going to buy the pet bundle for $68 until I saw the steed was free now.

Yeah I pretty much said that with Tyrael’s Charger.

However, there is the fact people had to wait like 11 years to get it from the store.

I dunno man but it does make you think. Is it worth is to drop the cash or just wait for the TP now? :woman_shrugging:
