It’s simple, if she wants to be accepted by the Forsaken then she needs to indulge in their culture. I’ll be 100% okay with Calia being in the Horde once I see her chowing down on a Scarlet Crusader. Or she could go the extra mile and eat an Alliance soldier to prove she has no lingering conflicts of interest.
Shouldn’t be too hard for her if she truly belongs among the Forsaken right?
Even the Forsaken wouldn’t cannibalize a human corpse anymore in modern WoW storytelling. Now that Sylvanas and her oppressive rule is gone, the Forsaken will embrace their past as normal humans.
To this day it’s grinding my gears that they basically retconned the whole nature of the Forsaken in the BfA book, when they explained that the Undead were completely capable of having feelings like every other normal being and that they were just brainwashed by Sylvanas into abandoning their former selves. They apparently wanted to embrace their human past but were not allowed to.
If only WoW could stay consistent for a few expansions…
Yeah this one in particular drives me up a wall. It was clear that those who abandoned their Human past did so because they felt betrayed by their living kin or wanted to start anew rather than chase a bygone era. And there WERE Forsaken who clung to their past, quite stubbornly in fact and there was no indication they were being ostracized or persecuted for it.
Saying Sylvanas made them do it takes all the agency and race fantasy out of it.
Noooo way, is this actually the case? One of my favorite things about my bag of bones is the whole idea of this strange detachment to the world, since its entirely unnatural to be brought back like this. There is an NPC in Brill, I think, that talks about visiting family prior to the plague and remarking that he is more concerned why he doesn’t care about what happened to them.
It always seemed like a neat aspect of being “forsaken” when it comes to this strange emotional view on the world and life. I always thought it added a sense of depth in a way, just this view of maybe not being able to function, but looking to do so.
Well get over it because now it’s just because Sylvie Breezejogger told you be detached according to Christie “Magic Bones” Golden
Quick, someone get her some silverware and a bib.
Yeah, that was the most intriguing thing about Forsaken and Death Knights. Not having the chance to feel anything and experiencing the world from a weird detached standpoint that clashes with the worldviews and morals of all living beings. That’s why the Forsaken had no real morals anyway - because they simply didn’t care and couldn’t care.
The Desolate Council basically wasn’t happy with Sylvanas’ ongoing agenda that forced all Forsaken to abandon and forget their past lives, so they would move on and fight for their undead existence. Anduin and the Desolate Council in UC wanted to organize a gathering of some Forsaken with their old families and friends, and some of them were so happy about it that they instantly wanted to defect to the alliance. Sylvanas was kinda frightened about that and chose to kill everyone of them before she continued her campaign of maintaining the hatred against Humans and the alliance through psychological manipulation.
Forsaken were always strongly disencouraged to visit places the loved in life and when they brought things of their old lives into the Undercity, they were confiscated. The freshly risen Derek Proudmoore was also a great example of how emotional Undeads can still be without much manipulation.
I like the mental image of Calia eating a human laid out on a fancy table piece by piece with a knife and fork all sophisticated-like. If she did something cartoonishly edgy like that my opinion of her would do a 180° and she’d become one of my favorite characters.
I think it says something about the writers that they believe making the undead sister of Arthas Menethil queen would somehow de-escilate Forsaken/Alliance hostilities.
The second her dainty foot touched the bloodstaind tiles of the Capitol City throne room Kill Bill murder-sirens should have started blairing in the Deus Vult brain of every human paladin on the face of the planet.
I made a thread a little while ago about how it’s crazy that the Alliance isn’t losing their minds over the Forsaken getting Lordaeron back after everything they went through to get them out.
But I guess now the humans are chill with losing a holy city to hostile undead abominations now.
Its okay, The Lich King’s sister is in charge and she’s the sweetest sweetie to ever don a white latex catsuit.
The writers really wanted to let people know Sylvanas was EvIlLL in case players skipped out on the Forsaken starting zone and the Gilneas quest line. Because when the player character first awakens your told you have free will then during the Gilneas quest line you see the Val’kyr raise Dalaran mages who were fighting against Sylvanas instantly start fawning over her when resurrected.
So red flag, somethings going on with Sylvanas and the promise of having free will. But again the writers where probably afraid that those points had been missed.
Maybe she’s shy and isn’t comfortable eating corpses with others around.
I’d happily join Calia for some tauren BBQ, would that satisfy you OP?
hah, this is amazing and I 100% support this.
Blizzard, it’s a right of passage, let’s goooooo.
Calia has a strict gnome corpse only diet.
Calia is corporate HR approved undead, not real undead. the character and her writing puts off nothing but “how do you do fellow undead kids” vibes. she needs to be spirit broken and hateful, not an undead disney princess.
cannibalize isn’t a forsaken cultural thing, its a remnant of their former culture as being slaves to the lich king.
