I doubt FOMO would be a huge draw for a sequel game. I honestly don’t think a WoW 2 would happen, I think at most they would take wow down, update the base code, and give it a new engine. But I don’t know if a Sequel would work.
EQ2 tried this. Didnt get EQ1 players to move over.
The issue is your what-ifs are based on cliche character lines. While ignoring actual situations that have happened.
Yeah theyre definitely doing something imo but its a huge question mark as to what right now.
I dont think the game will continue on like normal past the saga, but what that means… no clue.
But why do you specifically feel that WoW is the entire warcraft franchise?
Because that is the only explanation for how you connect “the franchise will continue” and “WoW is ending”
For all we know, the franchise continuation will have nothing to do with the MMO genre (or WoW directly). And to me, that is much much more likely.
I say we steal some derelict Legion ships and travel to other worlds.
I agree, though I could just see them do a massive update to the game itself. Kinda in the same vein as the current game is nothing like the original. A technological update is basically a must for whatever they plan.
If they are feeling bold, they may try to do wow2.
I’m curious but it’s still years away so not really anything I’m worried about.
I dont.
Thats why ive been saying that even if wow does end, it wont be the end of the franchise.
Ive purposefully been keeping the two things seperate.
But this does not make financial sense.
Why invest that much money into something that will not attract new players with the investment?
But the only explanation you can come up with “the franchise continuing” is that WoW will end.
Except you havent.
You are not leaving any room for WoW to continue as normal, and the franchise to continue with non WoW games. No one is saying the franchise will retire.
Youve gotta stop trying to twist what i say. Because that was not it.
Lets just agree to disagree because i dont have it in me to go over it again.
I think a lot of people struggle to separate World of Warcraft from the Warcraft franchise.
I expect changes of some sort to happen by the end of the world soul saga.
ps Personal opinion but I think they should make an animated tv show.
A tv show would be pretty cool
Ironic since your entire argument is “But the bad guy said this is the final battle”
Ok. I disagree that WoW is going to be shut down, like you suggested, once the world saga is over.
What changes?
Not you too…
Summing up all the events of wow and calling this the final battle makes me a little uncertain as to the future of wow. Thats all.
I believe theyre leading to some big changes but i dont know what.
Im hoping for a time skip and a world revamp where we leave our old characters behind and start fresh in a whole new story. But thats just what i hope.
Ok.
And the counter is that if WoW has enough players, its not ending. Period. Regardless of the story. They arent going to throw away easy money.
This would instantly make a ton of people quit.
I thought we agreed to disagree
Is never going to happen.
I am participating in the conversation.
If a WoW expansion launched and its story was “ok. none of the story matters. your character doesnt matter. everyone picks a new character”…I would uninstall the moment it was announced.
I do expect the game to change, adapt, grow. I think the idea of wow2 (a completely new game) is interesting, but not necessarily what will happen.
Akston you tend to view things very pessimistically, so I think on a lot of fronts we just have to agree to disagree.
It wouldnt be that the story doesnt matter.
It would just be youre no longer playing as the hero that went to the outlands, took down the lich king, stopped the legion, and killed satan in the realms of death.
Reground ourselves a bit.
