Ignore Pain is a pitiful defensive

The tooltip is wildly misleading, you do not get the full amount stated unless you “stack it”. You are not reasonably casting multiple ignore pains to stack, they are ripped off instantly from pitiful dot ticks. Makes me wonder if the developers even know that ignore pain only gives us a shield for like 28% of the max amount of ignore pain. Getting a 350k shield is nothing out of 4.8 million hp.

The tooltip is the following

Fight through the pain, ignoring 50% of damage taken, up to (Total health * 30 / 100) total damage prevented.

The “up to” part means it can go up to that said amount, it’s not misleading, it does exactly what it states.

Now as to why it isn’t written differently to include the initial amount gained and the total cap I’m assuming it’s to prevent the tooltip from being 5 lines long.

I am glad you agree the tooltip isn’t correct. Lets take a look in game what it says: https: //i .imgur .com/K6n9qdn .png

Oh look, nothing on what the shield will be when you press it. While that is mostly besides the point, yea the tooltip is misleading.

The main issue is, IGNORE PAIN DOESN’T IGNORE ENOUGH PAIN. So lets work on that issue.

What’s the cooldown on ignore pain compared to other absorbs?

Idk others classes shield but Arms Ignore Pain is 11 seconds, in town 1 press gives me a 392K shield, costs 20 rage.

If you dont press it as soon as its off cooldown the shield drops and you start over.

That’s the opposite of what I wrote. If you’re unwilling to even engage in an honest manner there’s no reason to try and help you.

Good luck

In what manner do you want to be engaged in? Ignore Pain doesn’t ignore enough damage. The tool tip doesn’t give enough information, which you also stated. There is nothing left for you to bring to this conversation. Goodbye tinderbeef!

Ignore Pain lasts 11 seconds and has exactly an 11 second CD as arms/fury. It is literally impossible to even stack it. The actual amount absorbed is like… 300k. It’s still a talent pick because it is still better than nothing cough.

Ignore Pain has no cooldown if you are prot - it is the only spec that can actually stack it.

It’s not impossible to stack, you can very much tick perfect stack it up in anticipation for damage as Arms in PvE settings, and in PvP too if you’re not the go target in prep for a switch to you.

Ignore pain should not only be off the GCD for all specs but we should have a talent (as we did in legion and bfa) that scales IP total absorb to missing HP

I am really glad they finally gave fury ignore pain.

ye I hope one day we get off gcd ignore pain

Ignore pain should just be reworked to provide an absorb shield per damage done similar to how warlocks had an absorb shield that did the same thing.

Blizzard didn’t like that fury had IP in Shadowlands.

I dont think its worth running atm. Its meant to be something you stack but is way too clunky.

Having to pres it every 11 seconds on the dot is not fun. If the shield didnt drop after 11 seconds it might be more appealing.

They killed arms ignore pain on purpose because it was actually pretty strong in DF and blizzard is incompetent. So instead of just removing it from anger managment/tactician, they also decided to gut it. You might notice this theme lately, knee jerk reactions are all they do for the last few years. Fixing those mistakes takes exponentially longer, however, so I’d just get used to running the passive heal from deep wounds and forget ignore pain exists.

Honestly, I’ve never liked it. Prot spamming it constantly to burn rage/be defensive is the primary reason its the highest apm spec in the game. It’s the same problem that brewmaster used to have with their stagger brew that you just ended up absent mindedly pressing constantly or macro’d into other things. Just added finger strain for something that should just be passive, if it needs to exist at all. I like the idea i’ve had where instead of an absorb, its a passive heal that works exactly like the kul tiran racial, except juiced up to actually be noticable. Warrior gets hit, takes the hit, doesn’t give a damn and fights through it, healing some of it back through sheer rage. Could also just be DR that scales with how low your hp is, which would also be some neat synergy with second wind and could give value to the colossus second wind, also. But hey, I’m just a drunk, not a wow dev. Lets leave the design identical to how it was in 2016 even though no one then liked it, either.
