Ignite Munching Fix

As we all know well if youre a mage Blizzard wont fix Ignite munching.

Whats Ignite Munching you ask?

Its when 2 fire spells land together typically it will be on a hot streak proc, so your fireball crits giving you your 2nd hot streak crit, you now have an instant cast pyro, however you were casting a fireball as you got the proc and stoping the cast is a dps loss.

So you finish the fireball and you send the instant Pyro with it, they land at the same time and they both crit, the game wont allow them to stack the ignite so 1 of the crits ignite gets basically deleted.

So how do we fix this??

Well you cant “fix” it but you can make it better.

You will need to use a weak aura to do it and a macro.

Heres the weak aura and it also has the macro with it.

Heres the macro.

#showtooltip
/run pFQ()
/cast Pyroblast
/run pCQS()

This isnt really that new and i didnt make any of it but i figured id share as i did see a few Ignite Munching threads.

This will still be a dps loss, it just wont be as huge as ignite munching is. As this will put a delay on your Hot Streak Pyro so if the fireball thats sent with the Pyro both crit the ignites will be seperated enough to stack the ignites.

How long has this been an issue?

When did the OG wrath launch? Lol

Really that long?

Great post, had no idea about this. Always love deep diving posts about maximizing throughput.

are you asking for 2 stacks of ignite? not quite sure what youre getting at here. are you saying the weaker ignite dot stays on the target over the stronger one? if so that would indeed be an issue, seeing as they fixed demo locks who had a similar issue (smaller crits overwriting the SP bonus from larger FG crits).

if thats not whats happening and the stronger crit is simply taking over, theres nothing to fix here, or im misunderstanding the issue

If you crit with a spell it adds ignite.

If you crit with a new spell it will add it’s ignite to the existing ignite.

However the issue is when 2 spell crit at the same time, it will basically dismiss 1 of the ignites and only use 1 of the spell crits to put up the ignite, this is why you need a small delay.

It has to do with the spell batching window of 10 Ms, when 2 spells land in that time frame it basically just picks which spell gets the ignite and the other spell still does damage but it’s ignite isn’t added to the other ignite like it should, it gets munched.

This was fixed in cata and can easily be fixed here but lol gl on getting bugs fixed
