I’ve been having so much fun since I stopped playing World of Warcraft, and instead started playing Guild Wars 2.
It literally offers all of the stuff people use to describe Classic WoW. Stuff like community, the sense that the world is alive instead of instanced, actual character progression that isn’t based on loot boxes!
If you’re tired of WoW, have a think about Guild Wars 2. Even Asmongold is playing other games now! You can too!
inb4 mass flagging for mentioning Asmongold in one sentence.
Honestly, there’s no other MMORPG that can substitute WoW for me, except for BFA. I’m just holding out for Classic and Warcraft 3 reforged (it looks incredibly fun and might replace AoE II for me).
I tried ESO, and I actually like it, but it’s kinda’… eh…
I just wish they’d give us more news about this project. Seen absolutely no more screenshots since Blizzcon, and the Night Elf teasers are still “coming soon.”
Hopefully they don’t just halfheartedly push this project out. Depending on how good it is I might just make the new Worldeditor my home.
Yeah I had tons of fun playing gw2, but I came back to WoW due to gear progression gw2 lacks, but look and behold they ruined that in WoW, as well as community aspects with sharding and crossrealm stuff, so yeah might meet you there on gw2. You better pray you aren’t in different world, or I’m capping all yo keeps in WvW.
Blizzard literally can’t mess this up. They are remastering a game that they already made. If Warcraft 3 Reforged is a failure for whatever dumb reason, then honestly I’ll just say screw it to the RTS genre as a whole
It’s amazing how much deader RTSs are in comparison to MMORPGs now that’s a feat.
They’re updating the engine and redesigning literally every unit found in the world editor with brand new animations. It’s also going to have completely redone voice work and tweaked campaign missions to better reflect the geography of the world as of WoW vanilla.
It’s a tall order, and one that’s far more difficult than the graphical update that Starcraft: Remastered had.
Man, I really really don’t want my hopes to my destroyed for W3 Reforged, but with the current state of Blizzard, I may as well put a big fat F in the chat for the game already.
While I’m largely tired of WoW, I still play casually; on and off, mainly because I’ve sunk around 15 years into the game and can’t bear to abandon my investment. Lack of investment is also what prevents me from starting new MMORPGs. That wouldn’t have been a problem 10 - 15 years ago, but I don’t have the time and interest that I had during my teenage years.
These days, RTS is where it’s at for me. Fairly quick games, hardly any collectibles and invested time usually only means that you’re more likely to become better at playing the game.
Not to be a jerk but is the WoW forum really a place to basically advertise another game? Like this is more something you would put as a review for GW2 to let WoW players looking for another game that it would be a good fit for them.
I have GW2. Had it since release. I like the idea behind it but it is way too similar to WoW, only without all the bells and whistles.
If you want something truly different, I recommend Elder Scrolls Online. B2P, like GW2, but a better model, better character customization/progression system, better combat, etc.
Again, just my opinion, but I really think ESO is the better alternative to WoW than GW2 is any day of the week.
