If you're going to play classic then play it

I’ve been reading a lot of garbage on this forum with people arguing back and forth about addons. Both sides are arguing with each other trying convince eaach other that their side is right.

Let me sum this up.
It’s impossible to explain this concept to people that didn’t play original WOW. They simply don’t get it and never will.

The only real way to have a true classic feel to WOW is to ban any player using any addon that is not authorized by Blizzard.

You want to play wow then that should be in effect!

Or… Play however you want and enjoy it…

one mans trash

Blizzard did not put addons into the game, just the interface. That is why they are called addons.

Or do it how you want it. Period.

Then proceeds to try and convince us his side is right. smh

Blizzard themselves is taking care of addons that trivialize content already. There is nothing to worry about.

hasn’t this literally always been the case since ever?

Well… every addon is authorized by Blizzard so… I guess that settles that.

Blizzard has always given authority to the community to make interface addons. That’s authorization enough.

Trying to talk down to me as if I’m making this up is rather amusing considering, back in the old days anyone using an addon Blizzard didn’t authorize, was banned.

So if people want real Classic, Blizzard would and should be doing this.

I don’t understand why everyone is concerned about how anyone else chooses to play? If I use an add-on , chances are , you would never know.

Just play how you want, use the add-on’s that you wish.

After all , that’s how it was back in the day.

All of you trying to argue this whole play how you want are showing that you have zero concept on what classic actually is…Case in point this reply:

That is absolutely false! When wow originally was released there was a list of only about 3 addons Blizzard allowed players to use. And even that took a long time to happen Any player using anything else not listed, was banned.

Anyone even trying to argue against this, has absolutely no clue on what makes classic, what it is nor do they have any concept about why only certain addons were allowed.

people arguing this are coming in from retail and private servers thinking that all addons were always ok, which is simply not true.

The replies in this topic show why retail and private servers are detrimental to the game’s infrastructure.

Remind me when in ‘vanilla’ days add-ons had to be “authorized by Blizzard” … oh, this was never the case, Blizzard only ‘broke’ those it deemed cheating (we all know the most egregious one of those of course) … so this IS NOT a requirement for Classic.

This literally never happened because every addon is authorized by Blizzard.

Tells us we have zero concept of what classic is, then proceeds to explain about when wow originally released… Has to be a troll.

That is totally false and shows that you, like all the others replying in here have never played true WOW in it’s original form. Only retail and private server users think Blizzard never had an authorized Addon list.
I’m sure none of you bothered to even look this up to find all the topics about it…But why do that when you can troll and argue.

I’m not going to debate this any more retail and private server users are beyond talking to.

I don’t know about you, but I used a number of addons in Vanilla. Auctioneer, outfitter, a raid UI, threat meter, something that let me batch mail groups of things, gatherer… They were there and none of us got banned.

Someone should make an add on that tracks what Addons other players are using

OP was using the naked mod back in Vanilla, and got banned.

He probably doesn’t know the difference between interface addons, and hacks.
