If You're Going to Lie, Do it Properly

As stated in my last thread:

How Legendaries are handled are unfair. Some people have their’s LOCKED BEHIND A RAID. Some people have their’s on RNG. Others just have a 100% chance for Honor or Rep or 100% if a World Boss pops up (still RNG).

Gets even more fun - why is this so important? Simple. You buy your items to put your legendaries on. If you swap this, you are set behind several weeks. You have to get your best or risk setting yourself back later.

As someone pointed out - Devs said you should get your legendary within 7 runs. I’m on my fourteenth. OF THE SAME DUNGEON. Nice stats on that.

I would like to say that, no. RNG is RNG. You are liars and frauds. I’ve done twice that number.

I’ve also found that the legendaries seem to share a loot pool with all the other items the monster drops. WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS?! It should be a separate drop!

It gets even more fun than this. I’ve also been calculating odds on getting loot on the last boss. While I don’t have a percent, I can tell you the most likely scenarios you will find loot per dungeon.

If you see loot on the first boss - you seem to have a good shot (roughly half the time) of seeing loot on the last boss.

If you see no loot on any bosses, chances are the last boss has loot. RNG on that, on top of this.

If you get it on the second or third boss - you will NOT see what you’re looking for on the last boss.

I’m seeing a pattern here for sure.

Now, any time I see this pattern, I’m leaving dungeons. I’m saving myself the time. Thanks for making it obvious (mind you - it’s fourteen completes).

You want me in the random queue for a failbag and the chance I won’t get this dungeon? HA.

I’m queuing specific only and I won’t ever queue random again. I’m going Mythic - just because of the horrors I’ve been subjected to through RNG on players on top of this.

You want to talk math? Here’s your math.

“The rates are much higher,”

The devs say. Give a number, they do.

I am twice-past this number and have discovered not only are those numbers wrong, but they made WORSE the issue at hand by including it as a loot table drop, essentially changing the percentage from 1/7.

To 1/4 (for the boss in question).

Then 1/6 for the item, assuming all drop equally.

Bringing our odds from a supposed: 1/7.

To a 1/24. Bringing your odds to 4.17%. A far cry from the 1/7 (13%) that was touted. (Edit - someone has proven this is in addition to loot - I am incorrect).

Excluding more commonly dropped items. There’s your math.

So, it seems like I have gone from a 4% chance to being a statistical frickin’ unicorn.

Got it after 20 full runs and 5 failures.

Yep, giving round-about numbers as plain English is a bad idea. If you say should within 7, there are outliers as in any data-set, but this RNG never takes into account extreme outliers.

Either way if they add in a new way to handle this, such as helping guarantee something (through more systems and grinds), they’re still setting a player back for, potentially, weeks because of bad luck.

Both legendaries I was thinking of crafting are tied to a raid…let’s pray the rng gods bless me.

I think those are 100%ers.

I hope so!!

Ugh, legendaries are tied to RNG AGAIN?!

This is literally the reason I quit Legion and skipped BfA: when my warlock got his THIRD garbage legendary, I was just done right then and there.

Holy crap, please loosen up on the skinner box a bit, devs…

RNG on top of RNG, mind you.

IF the boss drops loot (RNG), THEN it rolls on the loot table (More RNG) to see if you get anything.

It’s not its own chance.

I’m not going to mention you spelled properly wrong! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4QHHGHve_N0

Fixed.

I’m a little miffed that the legendary I want is in the raid on the last boss. I either have to craft a placeholder legendary or progress through a whole raid without a legendary in order to get one.

Glad my BiS legendries come from Torghast, though it is a matter of waiting for the right wings.

LFR drops it.

You have a 100% chance on LFR.

Good to know. My buddy might pull what hair he has left out otherwise.

It’s the last boss so if I waited for LFR I wouldn’t have a legendary until January.

Bad system is bad.

Any legendary that isn’t extremely rare/limited is going to get convoluted, stupid and unfair. They don’t even feel legendary. They are just nicer epics. I want to go back to when the 1st raid tier was done w/ a mix of green/blue/purple, and from then on u raided to achieve EPICS. Legendaries should be like tarecgosa’s rest. Easy enuff to PUG, hard enuff to feel worthy of being a leggo.

Should is a key word with in this sentence, sometimes should is a funny word. At times it works in your favor in or times it does not.

Once again someone call the whambulance. it hasn’t even been a week and your crying about not getting random loot you want. While admitting you have received loot. It doesn’t matter that it wasn’t what you were hoping for. Random is random.

Should is not a promise nor a guarantee.

If you give someone a number, that’s a baseline standard to be held to as an average.

The further this average is violated, the further your numbers are called into question.

The key word is should. Should is never an exact number. Saying it should be something doesn’t mean it will be that something.
