Felt she could, but couldn’t. That is actually a valid point though since he grew stronger as well. People seem to somehow simultaneously ask for character growth and despise it. Every time a character gets stronger it’s a retcon. lol
This “life” is a prison, and I shall be the one to set you all free. Or whatever she says in the cinematic.
We still don’t know what deal she made with Helya in Legion. She knows of life, death, and life after death. She knows of the Maw and the Jailer and essentially what all happens to everyone in the Shadowlands.
She’s wanted control over death for quite some time. We know that much. But what we don’t know is what her “actual” agenda is. It’s probably going to be some bad writing where she truly is going to do the redemption arc and save/spare us once her “plans” are revealed
The lich king is trash.
I think it was waved away as a growth in power due to soul consumption.
Except he is the LK.
Well to be fair, Bolvar is no Arthas. He is missing a very key source of power that Arthas had over him, Frostmourne. That said, even if Arthas was still the Lich King it wouldn’t have changed much. This isn’t the same Sylvanas that got schooled by Arthas in the past. She is far more powerful then she once was.

She had a huge fan base way before Cata.
I mean i can solo the Lich king myself beat him like its nothing now that i am stronger than i was 10 years ago surely Slyvy got stronger too with better gear and heart of azeroth on her neck

Sylvanas, empowered by a primordial Death God, used crowd control to chain down someone who has been sitting on a chair for the last 10 years. it’s not far fetched when you think about it, especially when you consider the very small matter of BOLVAR IS NOT ARTHAS AND ISN’T AS POWERFUL AS HE WAS.
just because you have the same title as someone does not mean you are as strong or stronger than they were. Anduin is not as good of a warrior as Varian was, Baine wasn’t as good of a chieftain or warrior as Cairne was, neither Garrosh nor Vol’jin was as good of a Warchief as Thrall.

I have no real issue with her beating him for many of the reasons stated here.
That said, I think the purpose was to show just how powerful she had become, the reality is though it just came off as Bolvar being weak and it made it less appealing.
After what Bolvar has been through, it was a little disheartening personally.

The fact that you have a consistent and very logical justification for your crap story doesn’t mean it’s a good story.

It felt good to watch Sylvanas beat Bolvar I actually thought they both looked powerful in the trailer but Sylvanas was clearly more powerful. She reminds me of Mortis from Disciples 2 Dark Prophecy. The God Mortis played a huge role in the games story and was the leader of the Undead. She was the wife of the God Gallean who died at some point in the story and was the God of the Elves. She later tries to resurrect Gallean. It will be neat if Blizzard keeps Frostmourne as that one thing to remember since they are killing off everything else it seems. its power goes down in history since the only one who held it was arthas. Our shards of frostmourne are not the same.
Bolvar is a loved and feared character? By whom? While there are exceptions to everything, basically no one cared, cares, or will care about Bolvar. He isn’t Arthas. He isn’t THE Lich King that we played and battled in WC3 and WotLK. He’s a guy who got thrashed once, tortured for a while, then put on a fancy hat after we got rid of the actual threat. Then he sat on a rock for 10 years.
I can also 1v1 the Lich King. What’s your point?

Arthas without froustmourne instantly died. Bolvar had no frostmourne.
Bolvar a weakling? He took on Onyxia’s entire honorguard by himself in the throne room as royal guards left and right were quickly felled, I wouldn’t call that weak.

Wasn’t he also the frikin’ acting King of the Alliance from Vanilla til Wrath and a very powerful paladin?
