The Ashen Court Discord community has been working to make Silvermoon Sundays - a set time to attempt to build up density of population sufficient to enable reliable walkup RP opportunities - for several months now. We’ve noticed that by far the more successful evenings are the ones that have minievents such as open shops or a food cart.
If you/your characters were coming to do some RP in Silvermoon, what sort of backdrops or venues would you want to be able to RP in?
Here are some suggestions to illustrate:
Food cart
Restaurant
Tea shop
Blacksmith
Tailor
Murder Row fencing & information broker
Walking peddler
Street performer
Town crier sharing news from abroad
Answers to this question will help us provide more facilitation for a living Silvermoon!
Please note we’ll only be facilitating PG-rated RP premises.
I think those are all great ideas! I really hope your efforts pay off.
An idea I had was maybe a play everyone once in a great while. Maybe something from Blood Elf lore.
Another thought I had was a guild faire. Blood elves still seem to be the most played race on WRA and I know there are several still around. With the Orgrimmar Guild Faire happens once a month so there are other days a Silvermoon Guild Faire could take place.
As I am writing this I had an idea of a parade. That might be neat too. Just spit balling really.
probably a better one is mechanics. thankfully we’re able to wm up in valdrakken so maybe some magi hanging around to portal to vald would be nice. cut out going through org
Thanks! I think a parade is more than I and a counterpart and a few trial accounts could reasonably put together, but certainly doing a small re-enactment play could be really cool even. Just acknowledging costume changes the way one or two man plays are done in real life could be super atmospheric and real!
We have had some bustling nights. Very nostalgic to see a crowd in Silvermoon!
Regrettably my mage is hanging at 60, but if I get him to 70 and make an RP-NPC this could be a fun way to hang out actually lol.
I met a street performer in Silvermoon once. He was a very pleasant fellow but he wasn’t wearing much in the way of clothes. He told me I could hire his services for a measly 100 gold per hour. So I did.
I wasn’t sure what he was expecting, but now all my WAAAGHammer miniatures are painted.
On a more serious note, I’d start showing up to Silvermoon restaurants. Blood Elven cuisine sounds interesting and I can likely imagine people enjoying that.
I’ve seen successful classes, improv or plays, and date auctions in SMC in the past. A market might be fun. Holiday events perhaps, or something like a smaller version of Club Trix? Drinking contests (there are actual roll rules for these) are popular.
I’d say your best bet for attendance is to advertise. Post here on the forums, across Discords as you can (and not just post an ad and leave it - talk it up), and mention it in trade chat. If I just see there’s a tavern, I’m likely to think it’s going to be a group of regulars RPing slice of life in a bar setting. If I see there’s a server event, I’m more likely to check it out at least once.
Also, direct invitations to guild leaders might get you some attendance.
If you want to reach your previously stated goal you may want to reach out to others in the greater community to help you with this. I know there are a few blood elf guilds around and others that want to rp there can be included.
SMC was my main place to hang out when org was too populated, and also a great place to have pop up performances. I’m happy to help out in that regard, whether it’s joining in or helping workshop performances with available toys/items.
Yeah, hosting a Guild Faire in Silvermoon one of these months, or even doing an extra one spotlighting on Blood Elf guilds has come up in the Discord. It’s something I’d really like to do this year!
The idea of a parade is really awesome too! Imagine a whole host of guilds marching from the Court of Stars, on through the Royal Exchange and ending in the Bazaar.
Silvermoon City Inn party?
Everytime I go to Silvermoon, I check to see if there’s something fun going on in there, but it’s always dead
Maybe I’m just going at the wrong times? … i hope? lol
Come walk around Sunday nights around 6 server, and page that you’re LFRP in /general if you don’t see anyone!
It would be great to try the Midsummer Fire Festival thing again; last year it turned into just the fire ritual and one market stall though attendance was still really good.
Parade would be cool; right now it sounds like a mix of the pitch ideas are IC and OOC, so that might need to get hashed out too!
If we could visit Silvermoon and have it updated to not be perma-stuck in TBC, I think the markets and the tea shops would be delightful. Belfs seem like they would have a theatre somewhere, so that would definitely be an attraction, assuming that tickets didn’t need to be bought months in advance.
Runa is having the forum ‘no characters’ bug and can’t post. They’ve been reminded that there was also the fireworks event a few days separate from the bazaar event also was part of last Midsummer, and that went really well also; we should do that again, too!
We want to do the ritual of oaths again, and I think having a dedicated market/bazaar night would be good as well. A parade leading to that or a party would also suit the season.
One thing I’ve never known about how guild fares are run – do they tend to be IC, OOC, or a mix of both?
I’d like to re-hash Blood Elf grievances against the Alliance … and maybe a feeling of betrayal. This from the prospective of Blood Elven adventurers etc.
