Face it PvPers
Anyone who is a competitive PvP Player, or anyone who likes to PvP exclusively will have to PvE to stay relevant no matter what. The current design of this game cant stray away from that according to blizzard. They have to fundamentally change the design philosophy of their game and content and reward system if they want to go back to PvP stats.
There will be no PvP specific gear and PvP Specific Stats it will likely just be re-skins on the vendor and worse than heroic raids… Which means it useless alt catchup gear if you like random bgs
If you want to PvP Competitively in WoW: Shadowlands ™ You NEED to PvE. You will need to do the exact same thing you hated doing in BFA. You will need to do Mythic Raids & Dungeons for the best PvE gear to get the Best PvP rank
Might as well give up now and come back in 2022 for 10.0 Beta

This always confuses me.
do PvP players actually think they can avoid all the game content?

They would like to be able to choose what content they invest their time in, instead of it being mandatory to be good in PvP

I guess what confuses me is that questing is integral to the game…PvE.
You kinda HAVE to do it to even get anywhere in the first place.

Some of us like to focus on the faction war. Horde vs Alliance is the main reason I keep coming back to WoW in the end.
PvE, fighting the monster of the week, isn’t the end all be all for a lot of us.

PvE has been a requirement for top tier PvP players to some extend since vanilla. The PvP gear traders weren’t going to change this. Even when we had them, there were still pieces that people sought out that could only be found in PvE content.
Yeah, because the BGs and arena is so much “the faction war”…

If you think about it, WOW is PVE first, by design. Having to PVE to do PVP makes complete sense.

Arena not so much. BGs absolutely brings the “us vs them” facet of the faction war online.

Us vs them and well “US” because we can decide to join their side and fight against our own faction…
The faction war would be you marching your butts into capital cities or settlements, not fighting over who can run a flag better than the other. Or who can run past each other quicker so they can kill the enemy general and claim their keep.
I am perfectly fine with this, as long as they also made it a requirement to PVP in order to mythic raid.
Hmm i think the happy medium is that inorder to get the best piece to complete your mythic raiding set, you need to be at least a duelist.

I don’t care how you define the faction conflict. And yes, running in to the enemy’s city to down their leader fits that ideal. So does tearing apart the enemy in battle ground. YOU can choose to swap sides at the drop of a hat, but I will not. You don’t dictate how I experience Horde vs Alliance.
that would require blizzard to balance all specs to be good in pvp. as it is they can’t or are unwilling to do that for pve
WoW has never been a serious PvP game - from vanilla till now. Best to just accept that and go play LoL or something.

You’ve always had to PVE to PVP its been this way since vanilla WoW. The Grand Marshall/High Warlord gear was still inferior to all the gear from AQ40 and Naxx. Just how it is and how it will always be… Play the whole game, that’s the point of it, not to do only 1 thing.

Wow is a dying game. Sure, it’s been dying since day 1 but it seems to be accelerating lately. Can they really afford to disenfranchise a whole segment of the population? At one time random BGs were as popular as LFR.

So can you explain exactly what is changing? Every expansion, except possibly MOP, featured PvE gear being used for a trinket / rings / neck / weapon 90% of the time. Very rarely did the best PvP sets not require the highest level of raiding tacked on.

We don’t avoid game content. We just prefer to stick to battlegrounds or world PVP, the way raiders prefer to stick to raids, or the way M+ people prefer to and actually can stick to M+.
That said, no PVP stat is required. On the other hand, when people start personalizing their gear for PVP, such as by stacking Versatility, Blizzard should let it happen instead of nerfing it.

There was floor and ceiling gearing with honor and CQ gear, which meant anyone could be competitive with just a bit of work in PvP. PvP trinkets were viable, even if they weren’t sometimes BiS. Amazing difference, actually. Keep treating PvP like a second class mode of play, watch more people leave.

I’m not sure why PVP people keep comparing their side game to the entirety of PVE. Your PVP mini game is more like the equally dying PVE Pet battle squad and should get the same amount of attention and development as that since it’s such a tiny player base that participates in it.
