The game that will keep the RPG genre alive isn’t WoW.
It’s actually The Elder Scrolls. Given how the modding community is still pumping out content daily

I’d argue WoW isn’t that much of an rpg anymore.
RPGs never die out. It is pretty much a game staple now if you are talking about MMORPGs that is something different.
I agree, not ESO but Elder Scrolls 6 is going to break records like all Elder Scrolls single player games
I think the RPG element in wow comes from the players and blizzard isn’t much help of it. Players have to make up their own RPG, housing and such just to make it feel like an RPG. But content hasn’t really been much of an RPG and just content for players to do with the except of raids, dungeons, PvP and such. Instead of being an MMORPG, it’s just an MMO imo.
I don’t see the math adding up on this one
The Dragon Age Origin mod community is till alive too. I would say they’re pumping out content daily but there’s always 1 to 3 new mods out weekly.
It’s cool to see a game so beloved and so easy to work with that fans keep it alive for years.
I’ll have to check out The Elder Scrolls one day.
I love ESO. Always something to do. While it does have some issues mostly it’s (for me,) better balanced and more fast paced. I don’t stand there with nothing to do waiting for cd’s to be up… There is always something I can use/do. Tons of content to do. I can solo some of the dungeons, tons of interesting lore. And, my favorite game.
I still play WoW, and probably will continue doing that, but I’m finding I take long breaks, come back for 2 or 3 weeks, then leave for a few months. I used to be totally dedicated to WoW. It was sooo much fun. But now, not so much. It’s more of a rading game with mythic dungeons thrown in. I solo as I don’t have dedicated play time and I dislike the ascerbic environment some of the players create. Takes away the fun. This leaves me only able to do quests (talking about current content.) Which I love, that’s my main thing. But I do enjoy being able to do dungeons from time to time. Especially when lore is connected to the content… And of course quests tied to the content, so yeah right now I can’t complete very much…
Can’t complete the expansions, can’t unlock some of the allied races (though haven’t checked the requirements recently as I sort of gave up.)
I play for fun. So if it’s not fun, well… yeah I go somewhere else.
I have my fingers crossed for the next expac. to be fun and playable, but that probably isn’t going to happen. Will wait and see though.
I realize my issues are not the majority by any means. But other games allow leveling up content to be solo’d for those who wish or need that. Non solo content is for extra stuff… Which is needed for those who want to do that level of content. But not to complete the expansion itself.
Then you have no idea what Nexus mods is.
