If you roll a new monk, do NOT try to do the class quest at level 10

Master Chen will do things to you. Unspeakable things.

I’m going to have to run Exile’s Reach with every class. Aren’t I?

Not sure why you would say that.

I’m a completionist at heart. If something unique exists in game I want to at least experience it.

Not just that one, the ones after are also hellish. And pro tip right now, don’t go in as a mistweaver, you need to interupt them or they heal to full, and stuns / ring of peace & paralysis don’t seem to work for some reason.

This has been the case for a while-they really assume you are a windwalker.

I know, but since we’re talking about leveling monks, I figured it might be useful information to someone who’s not leveled one before. Although Brewmaster has an interrupt as well, so that’s also an option.

All the Peak of Serenity quests are borked for low levels. My level 12ish Monk tried to do the daily quest, got two shot by auto attacks.

Fortunately, the quests scale, so you can do them at later levels and still get the full XP benefit. Unfortunately, the item rewards don’t.

Level 34 here. I didn’t check the trainer’s level, but some are saying they are 5 lvls above them. If I’m not paying attention (ilvl 37 btw… not great) I will take some seriously nasty hits from them. It’s not “Impossible” but it makes me want to just skip doing it. Oh, it also didn’t give me the buff when I WAS successful and turned the quest in… so there was that too.

That’s terrible. Have a dumpling.

Thats because they replaced the EXP buff with a few bars of rested EXP. Watch your bar as you turn it in and you’ll see you get more rested EXP. This highly incentivizes the use of full heirloom gear in a monk for maximum value.

It also has the neat side effect of allowing you to do all the trainings at once for full benefit without staggering one hour intevals. I did all my monk training at level 40 in one go.

Makes 10 monks immediately.
