Why is this a thing? People love to talk trash after putting someone on ignore. Makes no sense. If you block them, that should be it. No communication either direction.
I get what you’re suggesting here and it’s a fine enough idea.
The thing is with that sort of idea is… it doesn’t always works since private browsers and signing out is a thing and people can screencap and respond to it indirectly. And people can just take you off of ignore if they really want to respond directly before putting you back on there anyways. (You in general, not you you.)
Speaking specifically in game. Though, the same should apply on the forums. Ignores should be global.
That’s …still somewhat applicable, though not as easily so, i’l give you that.
I’m no MVP, mod, or dev, but i’l be honest, i don’t know how would that work considering their both separate things really.
If I’m going to ignore someone, I do it like a giga chad - I let their whisper come through undeterred and just don’t respond. Let them soak in their pamper.
I agree you shouldnt be able to direct message people you are blocking. If you find yourself on the other end of this interaction, i reccommend blocking them as well. No need to waste energy on such an interaction.
Plenty of people flaming me for the first and last word in one message. Last time, some warlock in the group was pulling and the tank got mad and dropped. His healer friend messaged me and called me an a-hole, but I was the other warlock. So basically I got insulted and no chance to explain what happened in one fell swoop.
I’ll do the same.
Everyone asked for btags but they couldn’t do that because they linked subscription time with your ability to post here. So instead, we got scrolling pictures.
Something nobody asked for.
And that’s why I could never be an MVP mod or dev. Thanks for coming to my TedX.
I’d just associate with the b.net.
The lack of transparency in the game is just making the community worse off. Forums would be far better if we were posting from our b.net handle then our characters. OR, at least let other players see them.
Definitely. I do, but this is just a way to troll people and not give them the opportunity to respond.
Better yet, if you message someone you have on ignore, their removed from ignore.
Yep. Be nice to avoid it. It just empowers the jerks out there.
The greatest cost to me is spending a block slot on them. If they’re going to block me I ought to get a free block-back as part of the deal. Also, they could inflate my block list and I absolutely would not complain.
While this is true, I think if we applied “well some people will still try it and be successful” to everything and let it keep us from applying safety measures, a lot more crimes would be commited, simply because even if safety measures aren’t 100% they still create a higher threshold. A lot more unwanted pregnancies would happen too if we just went “well no contraception method is 100%” and didn’t use them. People also still die in traffic accidents despite using seat belts but we don’t decide seat belts thus shouldn’t be a thing because they can’t prevent death in all cases.
As an aside, if you ever want to see someone lose their mind, wait for someone to flame you in whisper and just respond “no ingles”. Hilarity always ensues.
Why not just put them on ignore after they message you? Seems simple enough.
Yeah but its been that way forever. Or you think they can’t just send in whatever and then put the other person on ignore right away. I mean, unless you type at a rate of atleast 10 words a second, read, process and think even faster within that second; to give back a response, you won’t be able to throw back anything meaningful. Maybe the odd guy who is super fast might fit in a few cuss words before he’s on ignore a second later. Would be one assuming that someone’s gonna be salty and send you an angry message, then going to insta’ ignore you. So you’re ready to race!
And what, if you get msg’d from friends after this. People will be having that flee or fight response. Esp. for pvp’ers I’d imagine who get the most salty vitriols lol Wonder if they’d develop trauma from this wanting to be ready to type F- or something.
I thoroughly enjoyed it when I was told someone was talking crap about me on his Twitter.
I managed to find it and read his unhinged screaming into the void, it was gold. If a person does that, they genuinely look like such an idiot lol
Take this with a bucket of sand, but i would assume Btags are connected directly to your account, being that it’s what you use to post on the forums here. From there, it’s as simple as checking to see if i have game time or not.
Ignoring, i would believe, would have to sync up with your character’s ignore and vice versa backwards, and from the looks of things, the current system in place isn’t set up for that.
Would it be possible to do so? Without a doubt, considering it’s possible to rely the infomation from the game to a website like the armory, so i would imagine this is possible to do.
Would it be worth the time and resources for Blizzard though, or would it be something Blizzard doesn’t want? I don’t know.
I do agree that nobody really asked for Scrolling Pictures.
I’m not saying you can’t, i’m saying it wouldn’t work as one think it would when it comes to people who want to respond to you or see your comments and so on. It only stops the people who don’t want to go any further.
It’s not the fault of the idea, it’s the reality of the environment the idea’s set in.
I don’t want to compare this to laws, because this implies that wanting to respond is inherently bad if the person is ignoring you. And this doesn’t have a dire of consequences as not having any laws since this is just online arguments honestly.
Purely looking at this in principle, my attitude is simply the same as your law example; it would only stop a majority of people, it wouldn’t stop all the people. It still works.
Sure and I agreed with what you said, only you said it wouldn’t work, but it would work, just not in all cases, because (and that’s where I wholeheartedly agree with you) a few select people will always try to find ways to pester others and circumvent safety measures put in place.
Just sounded like you think the idea shouldn’t be implemented because of those people who won’t be stopped by its implementation, but if I misunderstood you there, I apologize.
I do apologize on my part, because saying “never” in retrospect, wasn’t the correct word to use, since that does imply 0% of the time, when it should’ve been “Not always”, which implies, not 100%.
… I blame it on me being hyperbolic with that.
This would be an afternoon project for an intern. Not complicated. As of now, ignores are associated on a per toon basis. If the association was instead your b.net, it would globally apply.
In the end, we just need a little more accountability for players. Blizzard too reliant on reports and reports often do nothing.
Mmm…, i mean so is thinking they can implement more hair colors, 64 basic colors for every race easily, but we recently just got a few for humans and maybe a few others recently, so you never really know with Blizzard here on what they prioritize. But i digress.
I do agree with you that Btags should be displayed (along with your profile pic, char name and server of coarse) on forums and it need account wide ignores.
