If you love "soandso" in WoW then you'll love FFXIV

and the female to male ratio of streamers is like 10-1 in FFXIV favor. that also tells me a lot heh… so much pink and purple.

Very true. The only pieces of difficult content in FF14 are Savages and Ultimates, which you need to go very out of your way in order to sign up for. Everything else is intended to be completable by any old random group that signs up for it.

I usually run a DPS addon for FF14 (don’t tell Yoshi-P) and even in lower content where everything is ilvl sync’d, it’s very clear (to me running the addon) when I’m the only person in there who’s actually making an effort to do my rotation correctly. You run into a lot of players not taking their class super seriously but never really in a context that matters.

Honestly I think that’s more responsible for the lack of “toxicity” more than any amount of moderation. Toxicity comes from frustration, which comes from failure. It’s a lot easier to become frustrated in a M+ (by far the most popular content in WoW) where failure is a very real possibility on the table than it is in any old FF14 normal Trial or dungeon (the most popular activities there) where failure is all but impossible.

Np. It sucks because I think the best thing about FFXIV is a variety of things it has going on, but the worst part about it is ironically it’s own player base.

There’s currently an addon/mod war between streamers/players trying to report each other for using them.

For example, the ERPers get real upset about Raiders using addons to raid, but get defensive when they’re caught using addons for… well you can use your imagination. Such a different brand of toxicity.

Sounds so bizarre in that game… Looking at a video of character creation… it is very strange these races lol. I just the Bunny ears race and I just don’t think it is going to be my cup of tea. Ppl think WoW is exploiting, my god… this is like soft core p*rn characters in Anime… which is essentially what Japan is having lived there for 4 years. Felt like I was in Kabukicho the entire video.

I’ve seen bigger streamers joke “if you want a GF, just play FF14. There’s tons of girls there.”

So yeah, definitely a different demographic than WoW, at least on a ‘meta’ level.

JRPG (which the director hates his games being called that) always have fan service similarly to Anime. The biggest problem is with people who play Lalafells and participate in those late night ‘clubs’. Like I said, worst part about FFXIV is the community. :sob:

Welcome to FF14, where we have all your favorite half-naked anime girls. We got bunny girls, we got cat girls, we got dragon girls.

It’s definitely something that’s difficult to escape. There’s definitely more women playing FF14 than WoW but I challenge you to determine who they are. All the women are playing cute female characters while all the men… are also playing cute female characters.

The fact that my character is a male cat boy that I designed to actually look somewhat masculine while keeping my shirt on makes me a downright endangered species.

That made me literally lol. Yeah man, I appreciate all your feedback but I just dont think I can make the jump. Maybe ESO or New World is more my type.

Some trinkets do this stupid stuff too.

FFXIV lore is locked solely to FFXIV where as WoW lore encompasses Warcraft 1, 2 + Through the dark portal, Warcraft 3 + The frozen throne, as well as a live action movie, and many tie in novels, books, and manga.

FF Dissidia lore is the more encompassing FF lore. But since the soul focus in FF games is their exact game world there is a whole lot less of it to enjoy or connect with than WoW has to offer spanning over 30 years of their IP. Where as XIV is 10 years of just FFXIV IP.

Haven’t really tried another MMO since SWToR and ESO. Neither of which seemed like quality games so I didn’t stick around for long. During the several breaks I’ve taken from WoW it wasn’t another MMO that caused it and I imagine when I’m done with WoW I’ll be done with MMOs.

i could not even get out of the main city in FF.

The Source has an entire continent, Dalmasca, which incorporates a huge amount of lore from Final Fantasy Tactics, FFXII, and Vagrant Story. Hasn’t been made explorable in the sense that Eorzea is yet, but it does have the stormblood alliance raids and Bozja tied to it.

It may not be on the level of Warcraft 1 through 3’s lore contribution to their MMO, but its not nothing either.

If you want to play an MMO that plays like a solo player game. Play ff.

If you want to actually play with your friends…play wow.

It’s a better game overall and the playerbase is way friendlier.

Warning, the beginning, known as ARR (A Realm Reborn), is long and can be tedious at times. This was the rework from the disastrous launch. The devs learned and each expansion moving forward got better and better. Also, be careful when making your character as some are heal-locked and tank-locked.

But the overall story is great and being able to do every job (class) and every profession on ONE character is awesome.

Leagues of Legend is worse. People tell you the worst kind of stuff, thankfully a few years back they added a mute all chat option finally, but for a long while before that you had to manually mute everyone at the start of matches. It sucked. That game brought out the worst in people, stuff I can’t say here or ill get suspended again. I said one such thing once here as was told to me many times and I got suspended for a day here, despite the context.

Actually not true. There’s a book written, but the special thing about it is, your character and known characters are not in it. Its a book written from the “normal citizens” perspective and how they see the world when all this crazy stuff is going on. I might read it myself one day, its such a neat concept.

We really need to have an auto ban function for people who start FF14 threads in general discussion.

Well, I am glad I do not play this “League of Legends”.

Im sure youve heard of it, its the biggest MOBA title made by Riot Games. The game is still very fun tho, a great game altogether, but if you ever try it yourself, check in the mute chat option. You can still communicate through pinging the map. it makes heroes of the storm and DOTA look bad. They’ve also had many esport tournaments and they are insanely fun to watch.
