If you get banned in Retail, will it ban you from classic too?

As per the title people, and visa versa ( i.e; if you’re banned in Classic, will that ban you in Retail ) ?

Only reason I ask is seeing some of the reply’s in various posts and topics, it’s apparent that some Retail players have every intention of causing whatever sh*t they can in Classic because of whatever reasons.

Edit : I wonder if ban’s effect a players ability to post on forums too ?

This is a very good question. Deserves a blue’s response for sure. I can see it going either way really. But I’d assume the T.O.S. are the same for both games, so I’d say yeah?

I can see it being a T.o.S. issue of course, but unless the two independent games are linked on the battlenet sub side, I am concerned.

They are linked to the same battle.net sub. Subbing on the account gives you access to both games through your battle.net account.

yeah, still concerned.

Funny thing is we need someone with a current ban on retail to try and login to Classic, or as you said a blue needs to confirm / deny.

If the ban’s aren’t global, there’s going to be some epic sh*t going down…the attitudes expressed by some Retail players in some of these threads has left me speechless.

If you’re planning to quit retail with a bang I’d suggest you don’t do it, lol.

After years away from the game and Classic being the only thing that brought me back, I tried “Retail”…i’m fairly sure there’s not much you could get banned for in Retail.

In Retail now, anti-social conduct is the expected norm, abusive game-play is almost mandatory, gold selling is now completely legit. I’d imagine it’s actually difficult to get banned in Retail these days.

Or maybe just… don’t get banned?

sigh…i’m not worried about myself getting banned.

To be clear, I don’t want a ban, I don’t intend to grief or violate the T.o.S. but numerous posts can be found on these forums by Retail players who have stated they have zero interest in playing Classic outside of causing grief and sh*t for those who do want to play Classic.

Yes it got me thinking and concerned.

Bans are by accounts.

Since your account is tied to both retail and classic regardless to what one you get banned on it will effect that entire account and all the toons within it.

Just don’t play BFA and nothing can go wrong.

If you get banned in Retail currently do you get banned from forums?

This is roughly why I’m curious.

I think what they are getting at is if you’re banned from, say, Overwatch you can still play WoW.

But I do believe if you get banned from retail you’re also going to get banned from Classic.

Well seeing how both games share the same fee, yes should be the answer.

Well that is why I brought up forum. Don’t retail forums require a sub to post in?

So if you get banned in retail are you banned from forum? If not then its not an account ban just a WoW Retail ban.

Don’t know never been banned.

pretty sure its a yes, ban in one is ban in both. Seem to remember hearing someone say that either in a blue post or on a video with devs but trying to find it is more than i’m willing to do at this hour lol.

both games are on same sub fee so there is that too.

Cheers for the input, if you can when you’re able to, please do post something from a dev that may confirm this one way or another.

Regards the sub being for both games - i’m starting to find more reason why I believe Blizzard needs to separate the sub’s… I really detest what modern WoW has become and sub solely for Classic, this combo stuff is only going to bring issues in the long run.

How is it going to bring issues? They added Classic as a side benefit to subscribing to retail to try and get more subscriptions. If someone wants to get an actual ban they don’t really deserve access to either product. I’m not talking about getting caught up in some ban sweep (edit: where they later lift your ban because there was a mistake on their part)… I mean actually earning a ban (it’s not generally that easy). Suspensions… those I guess might be easy enough to earn if you want one.

If someone really likes retail… you think they are going to risk their retail account by doing something worthy of an actual ban in classic?

People doing something to the degree required to earn an actual ban… it isn’t going to matter if they make Classic it’s own subscription or not. Personally I quit retail and I doubt I’ll ever go back so I don’t care if I pay just for classic but if someone is going to earn a ban… shared sub isn’t the problem.

edit Oh and your account can definitely get some action if accessed by a 3rd party. So if you don’t have an Authenticator or SMS Protect… well I highly suggest one or both.
