If you drop your rating on purpose you are everything wrong with pvp

Cant put the blame fully on you since blizz still lets this happen, but just ask yourself how pathetic that is to do that. You arent even trying to pvp at your level, but want more chances to stomp lower rated players. Sad.

Does anyone even do this in WoW?

I think people will do this with the new brawl (with alts) just to troll newer/learning players.

For what reason? Would you not just find bigger noobs to stomp in random BGs?

Random BGs is where five man premades with some duelist/glad experience go to play. So a solo queuer looking for an easy ride would choose to play low on the solo queue ladder.

Honestly I run into these guys all the time and I think to myself how sad and pathetic are you that you only ever pvp in a premade.

They used to do this ALOT back in SL.

Maybe not, blizz already have an account CR, they just need to reinforce it.

Usually it’s a boost or to help a friend gear. :dracthyr_love_animated:

It’s always interesting to see the excuses - i mean, reasons for having 50% pre-organized in regular BGs.

They vary from playing with friends, helping gear up each other but the reality for most is “we like stomping pugs but if we face another premade and lose we rage about it”

That’s kind of a bold claim. So bold, it’s ridiculous in fact.

It’s not bold at all. These people queue to stomp nubs. They get their entertainment not from competition l, but from stomping others.

Every group is a premade in rated, though.

I think you are missing the big one and that is the fear of dying or having a bad BG. There are A LOT of people who “play not to lose” and try to stack the field as much as they can in their favor.

Step into a BG solo, and you are going to end up having some bad BGs. Join as a premade and there is a low chance of that happening.

I’d place the fear of losing fights or looking bad well over the desire to “stomp noobs” when it comes to premade BGs. Of course, I’m not talking about everyone’s motivation here but you can clearly see it with people who won’t even step foot into a random BG without a full team.

I’m not sure fear is the right term. I think there’s two camps. One camp just doesn’t have the patience to lose. And the other camp just wants to grief lower rated players. Which is what this post is about.

It surely can be argued about since we are talking about psychological motivations here.

IMO, the main driver is “not wanting to lose or look bad” and that leads to forming premades typically with two healers and that leads to “stomping noobs.”

I don’t see stomping noobs as the main motivation. I see it as a consequence of the main motivation. The game is just much easier when in a full premade. This is textbook “path of least resistance” psychology.

I think we are discussing the same thing. I don’t want to lose an IRL fight so I beat up 10 year olds. That’s also griefing. And illegal but that’s not the point here.

oh yeah of course, I was referring to unrated bgs/ebgs

Meh, just because someone is solo queued it doesn’t mean they are a 10 year old. Some of the premaders would lose a 1v1 against that 10 year old and forming a premade is one way to avoid that because you can call for help when losing a fight.
